New Imagepalooza: Iron Man, Star Trek, Speed Racer
Stills galore!
Man, it's Friday. Your brains are tired and so are ours. Who wants to read stuff when it's so much easier just to look at pictures?
Luckily for all of us, a slew of new stills hit the Web late this week, offering fans additional glimpses of three high-profile films -- namely Iron Man, Star Trek XI, and Speed Racer.
Of the three sets, the Star Trek shots -- published by IESB -- are the dodgiest; the site has billed them as "top-secret," which is doublespeak for "probably soon to be the subject of a strongly worded letter containing the words 'cease' and 'desist.'" Still, there's some cool stuff in here, including a shot of what looks like a Starfleet jacket and a look at what IESB is calling a shuttlecraft. Follow the link below for a look at the full gallery!
Meanwhile, after a steady trickle of similar-looking (and pretty dull) Iron Man shots, the filmmakers have started releasing pictures of Ol' Shellhead in action -- like the three pictures Yahoo! Movies debuted yesterday, featuring a car-tossing competition between Iron Man and Iron Monger. Get to clickin'!
Finally, Entertainment Weekly has unveiled a whole mess o' Speed Racer stills, featuring -- in EW's words -- "a look inside the Wachowski brothers' candy-colored racing confection." Wanna see 'em all? You know what to do!

Rockslide writes: on Mar 28 2008 07:32 AM Iron Man looks great to me too, its the one I'm most excited about this summer. Currently this is my top 5 interest, I'm sure I'll be blasted for the order, haha. 1. Iron Man 2. The Dark Knight 3. Indy 4 4. Wall-E 5. The Incredible Hulk (Reply to this) |

Matanuki writes: on Mar 28 2008 07:54 AM In reply to this comment (#1656920) That's right, goddamnit! LET THE BLASTING COMMENCE! lol. Just kidding. But while we're at it, let me submit how I'd order the same list. 1. Dark Knight 2. The Incredible Hulk 3. Iron Man 4. Wall-E 5. Indy 4 For some reason, I'm not that exciting about Indy 4. And the thing about Iron Man and The Incredible Hulk is they're pretty much tied for second on my anticipation scale. Everyone expects Iron Man to be better than The Incredible Hulk, which is entirely possible. However, an upset wouldn't surprise me. (Reply to this) |

Matanuki writes: on Mar 28 2008 07:57 AM Ok,... let me admit my bias. I'm still a little pissed off at Iron Man over the whole Civil War thing. There, I said it. But whatever. ;-) (Reply to this) |

arendr writes: on Mar 28 2008 08:27 AM In reply to this comment (#1656863) I'm with you, Whiskey River. I'm not much of a comic book movie fan, but The Dark Knight #1 on my radar this year. But Iron Man seems to be trying to desperately hard to be trendy. It might be a fun movie, but will it really have a lasting appeal like Nolan's Batman films? It remains to be seen, but not from the footage we've seen. (Reply to this) |

dahluzz writes: on Mar 28 2008 10:40 AM uhh, hell-O people. how is 'pineapple express not getting its due on these lists? the red band trailer is one of the finest previews ever created and the movie is likely gonna make me throw up from laughing so hard. I AM STANDING AND CLAPPING AT THE END OF THIS FILM, I DON'T EVEN CARE. so with that, the unveiling of my highly anticipated list (surprisingly devoid of cheesy-looking superhero movies). 1. 'Pineapple Express' action, comedy and a whole buncha that sticky-icky. i'm going so frickin torched to this movie. seth rogen's a gee. 2. 'Dark Knight' it'll remedy the few wrongs of part one: a couple of so-so bad guys and the inclusion of Katie Cruise. Maggie G, even though her boobs are kind wierd and saggy-ish, it a great actress and she's kinda cute in an off-beat way. The Joker is gonna stab some fools up real nice and give old bats a run for his money. that motorcycle had better be awesome. 3. "Wall-E' Pixar's only flop was with 'Cars' which pandered to the NASCAR-loving, red-white-and-blue-bleeding yokels that have made watching automobiles driving in a big circle for several hours our nation's most watched "sport." But otherwise, they've been completely on-point. "Ratatoille" was stunning and woulda/coulda/shoulda been a best pic nominee. bring on the robot. 4. 'Indy 4' i read the spoilers and i CAN'T WAIT until the end when every person in the theater simultaneously goes "what the SHHHHIT?!" plus i want laboof to suck so he won't get to do tin-tin. oh and did someone say marion ravenwood? humminah. she can drink me under the table any day. 5. 'The Punisher' he's a boss who answers to no one and guess what, it's actually gonna be rated R! whoopie for the studios allowing a character who's made his name on leaving a trail of tortured, bullet-riddled corpses in his wake do what he's sposta do: punish the living hell out of people he deems evil. it's based on the comics directly and they already have the template of what NOT to do (cast john travolta, try and have the punisher care about his goof-ball neighbors). this is gonna be baller. and there you have it, my fully-legit top 5. no 'hulk' (did you see the end of the trailer where they're running at eachother? so f'in lame. no 'iron man' (could those flying sequences with downey's face inside the helmet look any cornier?) and certainly no 'hellboy II' (haha the cg is embarassingly bad in the preview. that toothpaste-colored squid monster at the end? were they even trying?) This summer is gonna be better than last summer at the movies, and these 5 big reasons why. (Reply to this) |
