RT Review Revue: Rounding Up Iron Man and Made of Honor
What are the critics saying? Watch to find out.
by Jen Yamato | May 02, 2008
Discuss Article

In today's Review Revue, we take a look at this week's blockbuster -- a film about a deeply flawed man who casts aside his self-indulgences for the greater good ... matrimony, of course (Patrick Dempsey in Made of Honor)! Oh yeah, and we talk about this other movie about a guy in a metal suit. Check it out!

Our editors have the low down on this week's wide releases, Made of Honor and Iron Man. One is a romantic comedy starring McDreamy himself; the other is the first big screen outing for the major Marvel comics icon and could turn out to be the best superhero movie ever made. Jon Favreau's pic, starring Robert Downey Jr. and Gwyneth Paltrow, is also currently the best-reviewed wide release of 2008!

Testing the critical waters for this week's RT Review Revue:

Editor-in-Chief Matt Atchity, Senior Editor Jen Yamato, and Dave Chung, who leaves voicemails as The Undertaker

Check back next Friday for the word on the Cameron Diaz-Ashton Kutcher romantic comedy, What Happens in Vegas, and the Wachowski brothers' eye candy spectacular, Speed Racer.

Besides the new movies, RT's Review Revue is the highlight of my fridays. Matt, Jen, and Dave, I'd watch you guys over Ebert & Roeper any day. Solid work!

I definitely like you guys, but this show seems kinda repetitive considering it's not actually reviewing the movies, but almost more reviewing the trailers for the movies. (I know not literally, just saying...) It would be sweet to have a post-weekend show where you guys actually give your impressions of the films themselves as well. Not necessarily a full review, just what you guys thought.

Thanks for the love, 707! And thanks for the suggestion, smi1ey. We try to work in what the critics are saying about each opening film - boil it down in a nutshell, plus add our own thoughts on the appeal of each movie.

Would a post-weekend video be more helpful, information wise?

More RR?! I'm not complaining! Ofcourse If the trios' time schedule permits, I can understand we can all be busy people.

707, how'd you like live streaming webcams on all of our desks during the day? If we had at least one regular viewer...perhaps it would be worth it!

Great video guys! interesting points, good reasoning and I

am going to make a point in checking you guys every week! Just loved your

analysis on Dempsey's movie choices and the greatness in Iron man's cast

and story. Can't wait till next week and the T-meter for Speed Racer, hoping

its at least fresh...

I, for one, would watch live streaming webcams on your desks all day. No question. Sure, it would be a little weird and creepy, but what's a little weird and creepy webcam stalking between friends?!?

Dougie, I think everyone is as curious as you about Speed Racer! I can't decide if I'm going to be one of the people in line to see it next weekend, but I'm definitely tempted just because of how crazy/awesome/weird/fake/but fake on purpose the computer animation looks.

We're officially in summer blockbuster season. Count me in for the Yamato webcam as well :)

Well, I can definitely see how to doing a post-weekend show would double the work, but I think it could be a big hit, considering how much love you guys have from the community here. Maybe it could be a top box office roundup, combined with brief personal opinions on the movies that made the top 3. I'm always curious on which movie made the most money, but sometimes it's not always clear why. I dunno, I think I'm rambling now!

And yes, YamatoVision would be an instant hit! :)

Uh, Sure. Well now that jocorotten, Dave, and smi1ey are on board I guess now it's less weird that I'm on board too. So there! That makes Four regular viewers!

I didn't mean a webcam on just my desk...you guys outside of RTland don't know it, but Dave Chung's leads the most fascinating office life of us all. Webcams for everyone!

Haha! She did say OUR DESKS. Guess some of us missed that. And I'd actually like to see Dave Chung leave a message on someone's voicemail as THE UNDERTAKER.

707, that could definitely be arranged, haha. Those are some great suggestions, guys.

And believe it or not, Jen IRL > Jen on Video. True story.
