Audience Reviews for Jack the Reaper
Jack the Reaper is another recycled "Carnival of Horror" slasher film that has stiff performances and a very predictable twist ending. From a character standpoint, these idiots aren't even worth rooting for in the slightest, and from a set-em-up and kill-em-off standpoint, the kills are too lazy and uncreative to forgive the lack of character interest. Like a sadist's version of the Energizer bunny, it just keeping going and going and going and going, and when the slasher monster finally shows up, you no longer care; you just hope he kills off all the teens if it means they shut up and stop making really stupid decisions.

Didn't the sailor at the start of the movie look like James Caan? I actually liked the movie a little bit more than I thought I would. It really wasn't all that bad & it wasn't all that great but it was OK.I think it is worth taking a look if you're looking for a Horror flick & you got some time to waste. The thing I didn't understand at all is after the trip to the railroad museum & being warned about a killer named Railroad Jack, You'd think the kids would end up at a railroad & not a carnival. The best thing about the movie was Harold AKA Christopher Raff.He was funny at times & a little creepy.I'd like to see him in more movies & Railroad Jack was just straight up scary looking!
If you discard the warnings of The Candyman, you pretty much deserve what you get. This is not a good slasher, not only because you never get to see the slashing, but that's a big part of it. Grab yourself a can of tomato juice, turn on your Handycam and stand behind it. Go "HUCGH" as if someone punched you in the gut and throw your juice in front of the camera. There, you've just recreated the killing in Jack The Reaper. The script is also not good, thankfully the acting was fair at best and the directing was obviously...not there. All that being said, this is not a complete stinker. There are moments of humor, whether intended or not, there's the token whiny fat kid that's always good for a laugh and then there's the carnival. Who doesn't love a creepy, abandoned carnival, inexplicably out in the middle of absolutely nowhere, still lit up and functional?! Toss in some kind of weird, psychopathic, railroad related killer and you have a slightly below average slasher with just enough goodie to keep you awake. Meh.
