Visually stunning and educated performances by the cast. It's a film about a national hero in France and for French it's a very nice opportunity to follow his steps until the Olympic Games in Seoul. On the other hand, Canet's adaptation is poorly written and he made some changes that I didn't like. Changes that approximate Pierre Durand's real story to the screenwriter's story with horses and this shouldn't have been done in an adaptation of a real fact. It's kinda disrespectful with the champion rider. Anyway, I'd rather watch a documentary about Jappeloup. Only if you really love horses that I recommend it.

Comme disait un célèbre critique, aujourd'hui décédé, ''Thumb down''.

It reminded me a bit of the Rocky genre; themes of underdog rising and the intimate conversations you can only have with your other half. Good work!
