There's no denying the film is unpolished, but it has an earthy soul.
Forget West 47th Street -- and the only Jazz in Lindsey Christian's dull indie soap opera is an aspiring funk singer by that name who lives in a diamond-shaped part of the District of Columbia.
Some dreams will be realized, some dashed, but audiences, having been dragged through this story too many times, wonâ(TM)t care which.
The music, with its infectious energy, together with Ms. Cameron's onstage charisma makes Jazz in the Diamond District well worth seeing.
Talk about false advertising: There is no bebop or a single blue note in first-time director Lindsey Christian's crushingly slipshod D.C. drama.
This cliche-ridden story of two sisters with artistic ambitions rarely rises above school-talent-show skill level and production values.
Fame meets Flashdance in the Chocolate City!
Jazz is just another reefer-ridden, albeit earnest, tale of love, loss and evil New Yorkers taking advantage.
Reminds us not of the worst of Spike Lee, but the best of Maury Povich.
