This cartoon fantasy features the title character, who lives a double life; during the day she is Jerrica Benton, who runs the Starlight Foundation, a foster home for orphaned girls. By night she changes into Jem, a rock icon and the glamorous frontwoman of Jem and the Holograms. While constantly at the top of the charts, the Holograms donate their fame and fortune to helping young girls in need; their rivals The Misfits, on the other hand, connive and sabotage their way to the top. The relationships and disputes between the bands, as well as Jerrica's relationship with Rio, her boyfriend-who is in love with both Jem and Jerrica, not knowing they are the same person-give rise to the adventures of the series; each episode also features at least two great songs and videos!
