Jesus Henry Christ Reviews

As Peter Griffin would say, "It insists upon itself". This is a movie that tries so hard to be clever and quirky, but it's not substantial enough to hit the mark. Best part are the performances by Collette and Sheen who are fine actors.

"Jesus Henry Christ" (2012) is a quirky independent comedy about Henry James Herman, an extremely intelligent ten-year-old boy and test-tube baby with an impeccable memory, and his journey to locate the sperm donor that helped create him. While trying to find his true father, Henry ends up learning a great deal more about his family and himself.

The only reason I didn't give this film a "5" is because some of the visual effects were poorly done and looked weird. But that's the only issue I had with it. The performances were exceptional, especially from both the child actors. I loved the humor of this film. It was very deadpan and dark at times, which was terrific. Also, the presentation of the story is very unique, specifically the editing and plot progression. The ninety minutes flew by, and I found myself wishing there was more.

So if you're looking for a quirky independent comedy with heart, watch this movie!

Jesus Henry Christ is based on an Academy Award winning short film of the same name and it tells the story of a ten year old boy genius and his decision to find his biological father, the "sperm donor". It's a unique and original comedy drama that snuck up on me. Really well written and flawlessly acted, the film has a quirky surrealism thats imbedded with a strong dramatical arch. The 4 lead players are brilliant and I am strapped to think of a better actor at this point in time than Michael Sheen. He's incredible! Toni Collette also continues to amaze me and she's rightfully one of the great all timers. Jesus Henry Christ is a roller coaster of emotions and a thoroughly rewarding film.

People obviously suck... this movie was GREAT!!! It was quirky, quick-witted, moving, and yet still somehow easy to relate to. Kiss my ass, naysayers.

I liked the idea in the beginning but I slowly became uninterested by the second half.

A poor man's Wes Anderson style film; a poor man indeed.

eh cute story. Little slow.

A quite common story, told from a different angle. It may not win any awards but it's pretty fun to watch.

different, too different and not different enough. this movie does a good job at driving home the "we're quirky" card, and yet at the same time this black comedy just has you wishing for a standard drama. at the end of the day i don't know what do think about this movie, and it doesn't know what to think of itself either. it'll sail off into the sunset like so many films, never to be seen again....

I found this DVD in the $3 bin at a used CD store, just a couple months after its release. I don't know why I bought it, but I'm glad I did. Quirky and original, funny and touching. I'd recommend it to anyone who appreciates a good, low-key comedy, or for fans of Toni Collette, who is marvelous as Henry's mother.

Well look at that, I actually really enjoyed this movie ! I was however in good company at the time so perhaps that played into it...

This unfunny comedy underutilizes it's overly familiar but interesting reason using weird sexuality and unfunny dialogue.

One of the best I've seen in a while.

Cute film. I always like seeing Toni Collette play Toni Collette! The kids in this film were also awesome! Great acting, kinda weird plot but killer none the less.

"I appreciate the fact that this film tried to be different and unique. I think it succeeded a bit. The story isn't as fresh, but it does deal with the situation in a different way which makes it unique. I enjoyed the quirky characters and I thought the actor's all did a great job. The kids outshined the adults in this film. The children were very talented and turned out solid performances. I was impressed with Jason Spevack. He will be one of the child stars to look out for.
Although the film was short and enjoyable, I still found myself a bit bored at times. I think there needed to be more going on. Great cast and a decent story. But it's not something I would see again."
