Critic Review - Philadelphia Inquirer

There's something generic about the digitally rendered Martians (whatever their stripe and skin tone), and there's a corniness to the dialogue that keeps the audience from any kind of emotional attachment to the Tharks and Zodangans and their ilk.

First trailer showed promise. Fun movie, but anyone could expect better from the Director of Wall-E and the writer of Kavalier and Klay. Can't believe this needs to make 700M for a follow-up. It would be nice if the sequel could be the "Wrath of Khan" that corrects this film's faults

Kinda like a pulp fiction magazine.
