Movie Info

While Imagine wasn't John Lennon's first solo album, it was the work that clearly reaffirmed his place as one of the leading pop music visionaries of his day following the messy breakup of the Beatles in 1969. Gimme Some Truth: The Making of John Lennon's Imagine Album uses behind-the-scenes footage to document the production of one of Lennon's most enduring works. The album itself also appears in newly remixed and digitally remastered form, as approved by Yoko Ono. ~ Mark Deming, Rovi

Audience Reviews for John Lennon: Gimme Some Truth - The Making of Imagine

If you a huge Lennon fan or just a casual Beatles fan, you will love this film. A truly in-depth look at the July 1971 recording sessions and the making of the documentary "Imagine". Its a great documentary about an even greater documentary. Watch as Lennon teaches one of his greatest songs, Imagine, to the studio band on an upright piano for the first time. See John play basketball with Miles Davis while mingling with Jack Nicholson and Andy Warhol at a studio executives afternoon barbeque. It is a very unique look at one of the most influential rock artists of the 20th century making one of the greatest albums of the 20th century.
