Harvey Weinstein Wants More Rambo Sequels

It's been said a few times already that the world of Idiocracy is upon us. And, yep, the fact that anything at all is behind Meet The Spartans in the box office is frighteningly proof positive. Embarrassing for Rambo? Try embarrassing for the world.

uh...no. only way this would be green lit is if Rambo is hunted down by...his long lost son he never knew he had. and it turns out that kid is about 20 something, and a decorated army ranger but has the same tenacity and never give up attitude his father had. they clash at first, then begin to love each other as father/son...then dad dies when they try to save the world from, i don't know...who the h3ll cares. obviously seeing an icon look like a steroid infilled lesbian isn't selling tix anymore, so the only way this franchise survives is if its given a boost. ie, another character.

I actually didn't think that the new Rambo was that bad. It was certainly better than the third film in my book. Sure there were some badly delivered lines and overall it's mainly a movie about watching bad guys getting blown up in full gory glory, but I dare say there was more of a touch of realism to this installment. I also liked the fact that Rambo wasn't just going solo this time.

With that said, I thought that the ending was a good closure to the series for the character. No more sequels needed.

Maybe in part V, theylle get him to fight terrorists, Imagine what Rambo could do to Al Quaeda! SUCK ON THIS TERRORISTS!!!!

Personally though, it would be good to send him to Britain to polish off all the Chavs n hoodies. All camouflaged up like brick work and graffitti.

I do not disagree with the start of your plot idea, Gimy. I also think that this latest installment was far from terrible. It was better than Rambo III. As said by, Elixor, the ending was great closure. Now, if they decide another one is neccessary, I will be there. If I will like it, that will have to wait until opening night. Why not go back a re-visit Driven? The deleted scenes has so much more character development. They could have taken those characters so many places with other films, but the editor screwed it up. Stallone is back on top of his game, why not let him keep going?

Rambo should be the swan song for the character. It was a perfect ending, just let it go. Stallone respectfully gave endings to two of his best characters, we should applaud and move on.

I thought Rambo was the best film in the series since the original, First Blood. Realistic, gritty, with some heartfelt scenes, and well-directed.

Let Stallone move on to re-making Death Wish (he spoke a little about being interested in that).

But in no way am I implying that Rammy should have to give up killing a lot of other fathers and their sons. It's part of his identity.

someone mentioned rambo in britain. sound good but i would like to see him tear up washington or NY (central park, bloomingdale etc).

also the ide of him going back to afghanistan and kill everybody he had helped in part III because they are taliban.

I thought Rambo was one of the funnest film experiences I've had in a long time, probably moreso than Grindhouse. Just bloody good violent fun. That said, the ending was just too perfect to taint it with another sequel. Maybe a prequel would make more sense, but if Sly isn't involved, what would be the point?

See, this is where Stallone got into trouble in the first place: milking these franchises until nobady cared any more just for profit and to stay on the silver screen. These films were supposed to be the swan song for the characters that he never felt were done justice to in what previously stood as their finales. He made two great, redemtive endings for the characters, now move on. Don't risk tainting the good will we now have for these characters and films by doing the exact same thing that ruined them in the first place. Also, now that the world has been reintroduced to Sly, its time he takes whatever cred he has refformed and try something else. Choose some smart roles in quality films. Try playing the bad guy. We've seen he can still kick ***, and I loved watching him do it in Rambo, but maybe its time to age gracefully as an icon, ala Clint Eastwood. Direct, write and do some roles that embrace this stage of life rather than try to make us forget his age and think he is still 30. Rocky Balboa and Rambo were great. Go out on that high note and create some other interesting characters. Do f-up their memory (and your career) all over again by milking this resurgance for all its worth.

I haven't seen the movie yet, because it hasn't premiered here yet, but does Rambo ever utter the line "I'm getting too old for this shet!" and then blow up some shet?

They closed the series in the best way possible. Rambo came home in an almost full-circle kind of way. The forst one started with him going to see his friends that evidently were killed by the gases in Nam. Then in the last one he goes home to his father. It's done and they shouldn't try to milk it. I don't think Stallone is that stupid to kill the franchise.

Ah Screw It!!!! Let's have some fun with the next Rambo since it seems like they are actually serious about this. R V A V P....Rambo versus Aliens versus Predetor My GOD.....talk about a gory guy movie!!!!!

Stallone should stop with these movies. Let's face it, the real reason he did "Rocky Balboa" and "Rambo" was because his career has been flagging for years and needed a box office hit. I'm not going to disagree with his notion that he wanted to make up for the disappointing instalments of the last movies for each franchise. But Stallone mainly did these movies because he needed a hit and his career was spiraling down. I mean he almost was starting to do direct-to-video garbage. Seriously, what was his last hit movie before he did "Rocky Balboa"? If his career was in better shape I doubt he would have actually done these sequels.

As for Weinstein, I'm not surprised if he wants more sequels to be done. Money talks and he'll answer it. I'm sure he's just like any other studio big-wig that wants to milk a franchise for all it's worth regardless if the franchise has creative reasons or not. Most sequels are done these days due to money and you know it. If he wants to proceed with more sequels, then that's his decision. Otherwise I hope Stallone can have the good sense to stop here and finally move on to original material. He'll never reach the success he had in his prime again, but at least he can wind down his career with other stuff.

I feel that this movie gives a sense of closure they really cant do that much with the series nor should they try. Just leave the old man in peace, before cliffhangers 2 comes on board.
