Oblivious to his surroundings and his life as a house painter in Brooklyn, Johnny inhabits a fantasy world all his own. Then he meets a woman who could help him get a record deal, but heartbreak soon follows. It takes a more down-to-earth schoolteacher to bring him back to reality. [More]

Reviews for Johnny Suede
A bizarre, idiosyncratic fable that combines Jarmusch's minimalist style (DiCillo was Jarmusch's lender), David Lynch's Erasrerhead-like James Dean anti-hero (well-played by the young Brad Pitt), and stylistic elements of German Expressionism
Pitt's tendency to turn into a space cadet without a well-defined archetype to play slows the movie's pacing to a crawl
Super odd indie flick with the worst movie hairdo ever, until Bill Murray did Kingpin.
