very boring. there was basically no plot and the movie was all over the place. The pace of the movie moved way too fast.

The flixster digital copy is not clear when enlarged and of very poor quality. What a big disappointment since the movie is very entertaining to watch.

The plot is where the movie takes a significant hit as the story is unexciting and very simplistic. Although I like how the movie does not focus on singing as the story but as a way of coming together, the plot falls short and creates moments of uninterest. The singing is excellent though, drawing in the audience with strong vocal performances and captivating sequences but that is not enough to keep the movie above water.
I have totally mixed feelings on Joyful Noise. On one hand, the singing is captivating and exciting but on the other, the acting is rather poor with sparks of life. I initially the movie was more focused on competitive singing but that wasn't the case, and that changes the experience. The cast is led by Queen Latifah & Dolly Parton, playing rather one-dimensional characters. Dexter Darden, playing Queen Latifah's son, was the highlight from an acting standpoint, as his character was the deepest and his emotional performances was touching. And I knew that was Kirk Franklin, I do not know why I doubted myself!!!

Good movie overall about Gospel music, Good Cast too with some funny moments as they compete against other Churches for the title.

the choir members have outstanding musicality. i'd like to be a faithful, capable, n available instrument of God for Him. Amen! :)
Make a joyful noise to the Lord, all the earth! Serve the Lord with gladness!

I think it was a good movie

It's not the good kind of corny, it's just ends up dull and annoying. Everyone can sing very well, but good singing doesn't salvage a script that barely acceptable for Lifetime or Hallmark. Queen Latifah, as always, delivers a great performance though.

Good overall if not a mix between films such as Sister Act and Fried Green Tomatoes or something. There are really no surprises and the ending was predictable. Dolly Parton's face made me do a "what the ...!!!" out loud and the fact Queen Latifah comments on her face was even better.

Joyful Noise isn't always joyful to watch unfortunately. I thought the music numbers were entertaining. However, musicals still have to have a good story to back it up and the story is quite lame here. Really contrived, takes itself way too seriously, and of course, predictable. It felt like an episode of Glee basically. Although to be fair, Glee is actually more fun than this movie. I did like Dolly Parton in it and I also liked Queen Latifah, even though her character gets really annoying at times. Not her fault, it's not really a good script here. Quite a bit of bad, cheesy dialogue to go along with the lackluster storyline. I wish I could have liked this, but it's just not good. Hopefully when I get around to watching Sparkle, it's a lot better than this mess of a film.

I wanted to like this movie. It seemed like it might be fun. I love Latifa, and have a soft spot for Dolly. This movie was ridiculously bad. Like maybe even the worst movie I've ever seen. Too many plot lines. Between the bad boy out to get the good boy/boyfriend to the long distance marriage, to the man dying in bed after sex to the feud, the old rich lady.... it was dizzying to keep it straight, and they had to wrap every line up with little complication. They should have stuck to ONE main story line. The material for Queen Latifa and Dolly fighting over control of the choir should have provided more than enough to fill a movie, instead of focusing on the young love story line, the Asperger's son. The elevator scene was beyond contrived and ridiculous. I'm in nursing school, and that whole exchange made me roll my eyes.

Something is just so unrealistic & Disney about this movie, I can't seem to watch it from beginning to end. Definitely not one I'll be adding to my collection!

No one went to this movie expecting to see an academy award winner. but if they went to be entertained, this movie did it. a liitle corny, a little predictable, but a whole lot of good music, laughs, and worth an hour and a half of anyone's time.

I wanted this to be better than it was. I love Dolly and Queen Latifah but the film just fell a little flat for me. Still cute and the singing was amazing so for that alone it was worth watching.
