Manages to be a charming and accomplished comedy on its own terms.

George, aka Jorge (Tunde Adebimpe), is a sweet, shy man with deadpan facial expressions and a monotone voice. But underneath his stoic surface, Jorge is a true tiger with wild dreams and a passion for life. He takes a few days off work to travel to Niagara Falls where he is to meet his bride, Sophie, for a marriage arranged by his African relatives. On the way to Niagara, Jorge meets Gérard (Hippolyte Girardot), an outspoken French man with his heart on his sleeve whose would-be fiancée has just refused to marry him. The two forlorn men are invited to a party by a beautiful, exciting Spanish woman, Alicia (Natalia Verbeke), with whom Jorge falls instantly in love. The rest of the film is a game of leapfrog, with the unlikely--but perfectly compatible--pair of Jorge and Gérard piggybacking Alicia and her spaced out Canadian boyfriend, Nathan, along the highway to Niagara Falls...and beyond. Director Joel Hopkins presents an excellent feature debut with JUMP TOMORROW. Using a bold and playful color scheme, uncandid theatrical scenes involving line dances and fantasy sequences, a relaxed and personal camera technique, and a tangy, lounge music score, the film is visually and emotionally refreshing. Reviews for Jump Tomorrow
The feature debut of NYU graduate Joel Hopkins is an old-fashioned screwball road-trip romance with a modern flair and a funky lounge score.
The performances are extremely good, and the tone maintains a droll continuity throughout.
This unpretentious, entertaining little comedy of culture clashes marks a solid feature debut for British writer/director Joel Hopkins.
I loved Jump Tomorrow ... for a heart that beats with wisdom and warmth and nary a trace of contrivance or sticky manipulation.
Hopkins' whimsical, breezy visual style and light touches carry much of the movie.
The film takes its multiethnic casting for granted, and the earnest Adebimpe gives the comically pleasing impression of a man uncomfortable in his own skin.
It's all sweetness and understated charm, and after awhile even George begins to grow on us.
A fresh, funny feature film debut with heart, winning performances and promise.
Quirky and good-natured, it makes the most of an unknown but able and refreshingly international cast.
A delightful mix of swinging '60s style, road movie conventions and age-old romantic comedy tropes.
Hopkins musters a merry clip, but doesn't come up with much that sticks to the mind.
One of those stories where two opposites meet and learn important lessons from each other, but it doesn't feel like a lesson movie.
An unfunny romantic comedy with few sparks and fewer jokes, barely suitable for 7 p.m. TV.
