Screw a second trilogy, or a No. 4‚?¶remake the FIRST film as an action-packed, yet intelligent R-rated sci-fi horror film, and THEN start a whole new re-imagined trilogy based on that remake. It can be done. Put ME in that director/screenwriters chair damnit!

And one last thing, FORGET the second Crichton novel. The sequel and everything after it should be an original work. The Lost World had a couple of OK ideas, but as a whole it was a failure of a novel. Better emphasis on characters needs to be a staple in the remake; not a totally lame idea, look at THE DARK KNIGHT as an example. A film can be action packed and bad-ass and still be intelligent, thought-provoking, and human. A remake of JP has that potential, if done correctly.
Jun 16 - 11:07 AM
I KNOW and then Michael Crichton told TIME MAGAZINE he assembled The Lost World from parts he'd left out from The original novel.
I thought Spielberg said he would would remake JAWS at some point.
What's the point of Jurassic Park anyway? (Dinosaurs are genetically re-created to entertain people and they get loose and out of control via Chaos Theory principle. But . . . the entire ECOLOGICAL DISPOSITION of Earth could change with the re-introduction of Dinosaurs into the food chain . . . so yes, there's a point to Jurassic Park: how humankind can ecologically function with the presence of dinosaurs in the new, revamped food chain.)

I trust Senor Spielbergo, whatever he comes up with. Even his worst failures have still been enjoyable movie's for me. 1941, Always, still solid films.
Jun 16 - 11:39 AM
I agree . . . even 1941 . . . dispute all of its zaniness delivers! The Ferris Wheel!!!! never before in a major motion picture. And I recall it being a real Ferris Wheel. . . Steve was hanging-around John Landis at the time. All the effects in John :Landis' films at that time were real (no models), that's why Vic Morrow and the two kids were beheaded and/or crushed and drowned by the real helicopter . . .Its very hard to forgive John Landis for ordering the helicopter to fly lower into the explosions when he didn't tell the helicopter pilot he rigged the explosions to detonate 20 feet higher in the air than agreed upon. Spielberg abdicated John Landis immediately because Steve Spielberg was an executive producer for the Twilight Zone and was partly responsible for the murder (excuse me: accident). The point is, regarding REAL The Ferris Wheel from 1941 (directed by Steven Spielberg) and the REAL Helicopter and the REAL explosions in The Twilight Zone (executive-produced by Steven Spielberg), films are supposed to be magic and trick photography to make the actors appear to be in danger, films are not "supposed" to put the actors in REAL danger (generally speaking) . . .

I'm confused. Spielberg already made a 4th Jurassic Park. It's called Terra Nova, and will air Monday's on FOX this fall.
Jun 16 - 01:43 PM
you know how "they" are; to make buck they need something with "Jurassic" in the title . . . having a film entitled JURASSIC MOON would Gross A billion dollars.
"Ted Koppel Imitation ("Let's Take A Look"):" Jurassic Park Budget $63 million
Gross revenue $914,691,118; Jurassic Park 2 Budget $73 million
Gross revenue $618,638,999 . . . well, Jurassic Park took in close to A BILLION . . . poor Jurassic Park 2 only grossed half a billion and Jurassic Park 3 (Budget $93 million
Gross revenue $368,780,809) grossed a little over half a billion.
I guess Spielberg will have to CONJURE-UP a superb Jurassic Park movie to make a much-needed Billion Dollar take.
Jun 16 - 04:21 PM
Jurassic Park 3 a little over a QUARTER BILLION I meant to say.
Jun 16 - 04:22 PM
I want to see more of those chirpy little bastards from the second movie.
Jun 16 - 02:49 PM
The second Jurassic Park seemed aimless . . . Spielberg said it was Hatari meets Dinosaurs . . . a lot different than the Michael Crichton novel. but both the novel the lost world and the movie were pretty circuitous (no real direction) except to pull in a goal of half a billion dollars for Universal Studios . . . its like, movies are made to make a set goal of intake.
Jun 16 - 04:25 PM
I've always sort of enjoyed The Lost World. I realize it doesn't stick close to the book, and I really can't stand Moore, but I liked the raptor sequence and, once again, those chirpy little bastards. Those little guys were pretty tough!!!
Jun 16 - 05:31 PM
yes . . . and I like the dinosaur coming to suburban San Diego (?). Mr. Movie (Steve Friedman on the radio) said it ripped-off Dracula because the dinosaur ate everybody aboard the ship and it crash-landed on land.
Mr. Movie (Steve Friedman) was awesome God Rest His Soul.
Jun 16 - 05:58 PM
Lol, that's a funny connection. Though how exactly did the T-Rex manage to eat all the crew members? Wasn't he in some massive cage with his jaws forced shut? It's been a while since I've seen the movie, so I guess I'm just not remembering correctly...
Jun 16 - 06:21 PM
Everybody was dead on board. that's all I remember.
Jun 16 - 06:41 PM
Remaking the first Jurassic Park wouldn't make sense. I think that almost 2 decades after the film was released, the special effects still hold up.
How about they come up with a whole new original franchise? Wow, there's a thought.
Jun 16 - 05:01 PM
that's what they're implying, an entirely new franchise. how about a Biker Gang breaks into an amusement park named Jurassic Park and dodges dinosaur attacks. yaaa hooo.
HELLS ANGELS VERSUS T-REX . . . that would be an awesome Saturday Afternoon at the movies.
Jun 16 - 06:43 PM
For people who are interested in see a whole new take on the first film, for people who are looking for a fully-faithful adaptation of the first novel, for the sake of paying respects to Crichton instead of simply feeding off his original idea like a corpse, it makes PERFECT sense. A remake means that that they can truly start over and create something tangible for a whole other trilogy, righting the wrongs of TLW and (most definately) JP3. And besides, who doesn't want to see an intelligent and thoughtful (and R-rated) version of an already classic film. It has the the capacity for true greatness and not be just some monster movie. For these reasons, a JP remake makes PERFECT sense.
Jun 16 - 09:54 PM
and hopefully the new film will have a definite ending . . .the first one had a the humans survive and the dinousaurs left wandering around in The park.
Jun 17 - 08:30 AM
I hope it's dinosaurs with guns!!!
