I like that I'll be able to see this movie in theaters, but I've already seen the score go down because of critics who haven't seen it and don't like it. It would be nice if they didn't just give it a rotten score just because most everyone else likes it. Kind of bugs me but I guess that's how people are.
Usually with re-releases the meter tends to lower. See: Titanic, The Lion King, Star Wars Ep. 1, etc. As you stated, usually just critics looking for a reason to get a jab at a film the second time around.
Dude, it's definitely a classic. When it was released it became the highest grossing film of all time and the first to cross the $900 million mark worldwide. Not to mention it's now 20 years old. So yes, it's a classic.
It is honored to the American Film Institute as one of the greatest thrillers. For a 90's movie that's as close to a a considered classic as you can get.
