We give you what you need to know about the family-friendliness of this week's new releases.

This week in family viewing, we've got an oldie but goodie. Jurassic Park is getting a deluxe 3D re-release, so we figured we'd remind parents of how scared they were when they saw it 20 years ago. Read on for more.

Jurassic Park: An IMAX 3D Experience

93%

What's it about? In Steven Spielberg's blockbuster, a millionaire invites a pair of scientists to a remote island, where has created an animal preserve for cloned dinosaurs. What could possibly go wrong?

Who's it for? It's rated PG-13 "for intense science fiction terror." If you saw Jurassic Park in the theater when it first came out, you know that the MPAA isn't lying, It's safe for teens, but it's sure to give younger kids nightmares.

Is it any good? Critics found Jurassic Park to be more spectacle than substance, but also were quick to note that it's spectacle of a very high order.

This is one movie that actually deserves to be re-released in 3D.

I might see JP in 3D, though I've been seeing a lot of showings of it on TV lately.

I just find it hilarious that parents are scared of the ratings even today
the little kids can take anything these days

what? nightmares? I saw this in the theater when I was 5, and it became one of my favorite movies. I also became obsessed with dinosaurs afterwards.

i saw JP in 1993 theaters twice...I was 9 years old. Up until about 5 years ago, I have had a reoccurring nightmare about being attacked by raptors and sliced into bits until that huge claw came across the middle of my neck, when I would wake up sweating. Same nightmare roughly every month or so for nearly 15 years...Wouldn't change it for anything.

I was six when I saw it for the first time Parents. Unless your child is easily scared..Id say anything older than 5 should be fine.

The moment I first say the T-Rex appear in the rear-view mirror that said, "Objects are closer than they appear", I knew I wanted to see it in 3-D. 20 years later, I get my wish!

Just got back from the movie. Just as awesome as i remember it being when i was a kid. I'm now 29, so actually seeing it in the theater for the first time was cool, in addition to the 3D effects. The 3D itself is very subtle - picture looking INTO a window. Its not the old school cheezy pop out style of 3d. This 3D has depth and layers. (if that's a proper way of describing it..) Anyway, during the movie I had a feeling of nostalgia from my childhood, when I would play with the Jurassic Park toys after watching the movie, i had to have them all! I'm sure they'd be worth something nowdays, if I had actually kept them.. All in all, it was a very worthwhile experience, and the CGI and special effects are still relevant to this day.

Now for me, 3D movies are just the quest for more money. But I wouldn't mind giving this one a chance
