Juggling slapstick comedy with witty dialogue and youthful romance, JUST MARRIED provides an entertaining and optimistic glimpse at young relationships and the struggle to stay in love in a world where everything goes wrong. A chance encounter on a beach brings Tom (Ashton Kutcher, DUDE, WHERE'S MY CAR?) and Sarah (Brittany Murphy, 8 MILE) into each other's lives. They quickly fall in love and agree to get married. Although Sarah's wealthy family does not approve of their daughter's fiancé, Tom and Sarah believe they can sustain themselves on love, and so they take the matrimonial plunge. As soon as they are married, however, things start to unravel--first in their newlywed suite, next on the airplane to their honeymoon in Italy, then in the five-star Hotel Du Rêve in France. Pretty soon the couple is living out a hellish version of Murphy's Law, and divorce begins to look hilariously ominous. When Sarah's old flame shows up at their hotel in Venice to cause further trouble, Tom responds with a jealous outburst that lands the newlyweds in jail. Tom and Sarah survive their misadventures long enough to face the ultimate test of their marriage vows, when each reveals a secret that threatens to spoil their relationship entirely. [More]

[Murphy] shouldn't have chosen Just Married, with its irritating script and banal premise, as her first romantic comedy to topline.

In watching the harried antics of a blustery mismatched married couple in the disjointed Just Married, is there anyway we can get our 95 minutes annulled from this marital mockery?

No es de esas películas que se vayan a recordar durante mucho tiempo, pero logra su propósito de entretener durante poco más de 90 minutos, a pesar de lo simplista que pudiera parecer su historia en una primera impresión.

... as the laughter suddenly stops... the guys in the audience will look at each other helplessly and think Did they switch out the last reel or did I walk into the wrong movie on my way back from the bathroom?

Well, here’s the first official mainstream release of 2003, and if the quality of the first movie of the year is inversely proportionate to the overall quality of the year as a whole, we’re off to a good start.

There's nothing wrong with Just Married that a major script rewrite, several fresh plot twists and maybe a couple of tranquilizer darts couldn't fix.

Real-life item Kutcher and Murphy may light up each other's world off-screen, but onscreen they have less chemistry than Kutcher and Sean Scott Williams showed in Dude, Where's My Car?.

The film has the age group 16-24 written all over it. But come on, folks, even good intentions to capture a certain market can't make up for a downright silly movie.
