Technically speaking, this is a romantic sports comedy. We don't get many films in which these elements work well as a team.

Intersperses the suds with zippy basketball sequences that feature NBA pros, and a hip-hop soundtrack that steers the film to a mild, steady beat.

Just Wright is an easy enough way to pass an afternoon, and it is refreshing to see a plus-sized woman on screen that isn't, for one second, fretting about her weight.

Latifah and Common create something that's all too rare in contemporary romantic comedies, and that's the sense that their characters actually, you know, like each other.

All of this predictability and retreading of the same old formula just makes for one long, stretched-out film that leaves the audience waiting for the inevitable to happen.

October 1, 2012 Full Review Source:

The audience, much like Latifah, is surprised and utterly won over by Common's disarming, nice guy affability beneath the intimidating aura.

You've seen it before -- it lifts from Pretty Woman and The Truth About Cats & Dogs, to name a couple -- but you won't hate seeing it again.

Just Wright's heart is in the right place. It just doesn't know what to do with it.

Easy-going and sweet-natured, this "romantic sports comedy" finally dissolves into a gooey mess of over-cooked comfort food.

It's rescued by the warmth of the two central performances. It also makes a pleasant change to see a woman of generous proportions land a handsome guy.

Take a pro basketball player with a career-threatening knee injury and an ugly-duckling nurse and you've got the blueprint for a steamroller of sopp that knows no shame.

Likeable turns from Queen Latifah, Common and Pam Grier elevate the fairly rote material -- no big surprises here -- into a fun, basketball-based spin on the romantic-comedy.

Stays watchable thanks to a charming, likeable performance from Queen Latifah, but it's also insipid, predictable, overlong and occasionally annoying.

A good formula movie and it goes down its structural checklist with a sense of élan, a variation or two and a freshness in terms of the characters.

Audience Reviews for Just Wright

Queen Latifah is fine as always but Common is a dull blank and the story trite.

Pretty standard romance movie. The acting isn't great, but i've seen worse. I usually don't like queen latifah, but she was decent here.

Cast: Queen Latifah, Common, Paula Patton, James Pickens Jr., Phylicia Rashad, Pam Grier, Laz Alonso, Mehcad Brooks, Michael Landes, Dwight Howard, Dwyane Wade

Director: Sanaa Hamri

Summary: Good-hearted physical therapist Leslie Wright (Queen Latifah) is looking for romance but keeps finding duds until she meets professional basketball player Scott McKnight (Common). When Scott suffers a major injury, it's up to Leslie to save his career. Leslie and Scott become close as they work together, but Leslie's beautiful, gold-digging childhood chum -- who is also Scott's estranged girlfriend -- threatens their relationship.

My Thoughts: "I couldn't help but like this. I love the Queen. The film has many cliche's and is as predictable as the next romantic comedy film. But who cares. As long as the acting is good and the story is decent then it's an enjoyable watch for me. Of course there will be those who will dislike it, but if your a fan of these types of flicks it will probably be to your liking."
