The audience, much like Latifah, is surprised and utterly won over by Common's disarming, nice guy affability beneath the intimidating aura.

You've seen it before -- it lifts from Pretty Woman and The Truth About Cats & Dogs, to name a couple -- but you won't hate seeing it again.

It's rescued by the warmth of the two central performances. It also makes a pleasant change to see a woman of generous proportions land a handsome guy.

Likeable turns from Queen Latifah, Common and Pam Grier elevate the fairly rote material -- no big surprises here -- into a fun, basketball-based spin on the romantic-comedy.

A good formula movie and it goes down its structural checklist with a sense of Úlan, a variation or two and a freshness in terms of the characters.

More of a straight romance movie than a romantic comedy, "Just Wright" is sweet enough, without being cloistering, to satisfy its audience.

Thankfully, Just Wright avoids the genre's current reputation to be better than expected - if just barely.

From the minute that Queen Latifah and Common share a scene together in this relatively light romantic tale, their combined screen charisma blends together in way that makes the generic script that follows much easier to take.

Technically speaking, this is a romantic sports comedy. We don't get many films in which these elements work well as a team.

Intersperses the suds with zippy basketball sequences that feature NBA pros, and a hip-hop soundtrack that steers the film to a mild, steady beat.
