blank blank writes: on Sep 26 2007 02:39 PM suggested cast (because im at work and bored): superman: i think superman being the leader of the crew, should be a little bit older than the rest of the cast. definately not as young as brandon routh. i cant actually think of anyone right now. matthew fox is popping into my head because i just watched 3 straight lost episodes, but he's not the right choice. suggestions? batman: like superman, i think batman should be an older batman, because 1) that wouldnt mess up the current continuity and 2) given the plot line, it would seem better if batman were a bit more savvy and wise) that in mind, i'd go with someone like joaquin phoenix (assuming that its only batman and there are no bruce wayne scenes)... the rumored choice, ryan gosling, is a great actor but he seems too young to play this particular batman wonder woman: many actresses can take this role, i dont mind biel though... jennifer garner maybe? catherine zeta jones would have been perfect back in the mask of zorro days flash (wally west?): ryan reynolds (Shia lebouf? if they wanted a younger guy?) GL (stewart): Jamie foxx/derek luke (if they go with tyrese then just flush the whole movie down the drain) martian manhunter: voiceover: lawrence fishburne is the obvious choice, but i'd go with ving rhames or james earl jones (Reply to this) |

ComicCONartist writes: on Sep 26 2007 05:28 PM if they get christian bale to be batman, this movie would go up 10 notches. but only if they would just have hal jordan be the green lantern and have aquaman and green arrow those are two of the original members, but i understand the need to keep the roster a little smaller for production purposes. kingsmartarse writes: on Sep 26 2007 06:40 PM the what i've read, the story comes from "tower of babel", a story arc from when grant morrison was writing JLA. the ultimate bad guy was ra's al ghul who distracted batman enough to attack the rest of the JLA separately, thus dismantling the league. it doesnt seem to stem from any OMAC-related story arcs, though you cant be certain. agreed that this could be a really bad idea... i hope they get the vibe and the script right, cause this was one of my favorite story arcs. balanceman writes: on Sep 26 2007 09:24 PM In reply to this comment (#1150313) blank blank, read Kingdom Come by Mark Waid and Alex Ross, It is a graphic novel that tells the story of the JLA reuniting after being broken up for many years to handle the new breed of superheroes whose vigilante style has gotten way out of control. I would have the studios adapt this storyline for the movie and use more mature actors to play the older superheroes like Bruce Willis as older Superman Tommy Lee Jones as older Batman Wonder Woman = ? Flash doesn't matter since he decided not to entirely exsist in one dimension in the future and his body is in a constant state of flux or vibration so you always see him as a blur or fuzzy. I also like to see some actors like Lance Henerickson, Tom Cruise, Sylvestor Stallone, Robert Patrick, Micheal Beign, Harvey Keitel, Alec Baldwin, Daniel Craig involved in the project. Basically, it would have the old vs the young feel to it with a lot of the supers having to choose sides. You could have so many cool casting possibilities with this story line. And the twist in the story line is that the ultimate threat to the earth is the superheroes themselves and the potential damage the final show down between them could ultimately cause "armaggedon" (Reply to this) |

aknddon3 writes: on Sep 26 2007 10:07 PM These producers are insane, they want to make a spinoff of the other characters after the JLA movie is done yet instead of using the green lantern that can give you a solid background and could easily give you a trilogy but no they go with a character with no personality and no real backstory just so they can have a black character, hell why no use black lightning? CoUcH ToMaToE DoUgIe writes: on Sep 27 2007 12:51 AM i hate to agree with that evil troll, but he's right on this one. not having hal jordan as green lantern is unacceptable for all jla, green lantern and comic book fans of all ages. its really a sad fact but what can ya do, folks. also, its curious how no aquaman fans are giving a damn that one of the founding fathers of jla is not going to be in this movie. hell, dc comics doesn't care, dc films don't care, dc cartoons don't care BUT at least Entourage did. heck even spongebob squarepants sorta of parody of the classic aquaman cartoon series, Mermaid man and barnacle boy, did a fine job. god, no hal jordan AND no Arthur Curry.. King Orn.. King of the seven seas( F#uck off Namor you bastard, he really is folks!) no aquaman! (Reply to this) |

largely writes: on Sep 27 2007 05:10 AM All I can say is Bale and Routh have done good jobs as DC flagships why mess with DC continuity by putting someone else in there instead. We really won't know how bad this is going to be until we see the first teaser and even then things could change. As long as Bret Ratner is safely behind the camera of another mind numbing soul crushing Holywood franchise and not involved in this project we should all keep an open mind. Plus we will get to hear some great "I'm a Marvel and I'm a DC " comments with "Just Some Random Guy" on YouTube soon and that's always fun. (Reply to this) |

jacog writes: on Sep 27 2007 05:11 AM It's a cold day in hell, but trollboy might be right. Studios tend to have this weird "let's put in a token black character" logic that I would find quite insulting if I were an African-American actor. Then on top of that they usually throw in the cliches like the fact that the token black character inevitably gets killed in the film. Even in Transformers, the token "black" Transformer gets killed. I know bung-all about JLA or the Green Lantern, so I'm not qualified to comment on how good /bad a character choice it is though. (Reply to this) |

talan7 writes: on Sep 27 2007 08:35 AM In reply to this comment (#1150195) While I agree that using the John Stewart Green Lnatern smacks as politics just to get a black character, I must say, this is the main reason that I don't buy much DC comics. There are no black characters. The John Stewart Green Lantern wasn't very popular, probably because he was black. That's how black character, particularly black male characters are done. They are never well-rounded fully explored characters. Look at 2 current tv shows, both of which contain people with super powers. On the 4400, they write the black guy out of the show. He was one the the first 4400 mentioned. On Heroes, the black guy was never fully explored like the other characters. I'm sure they'll bring a black woman on the show this season and fully explore her though, in love with a white character. It's like writers don't know what to do with black male characters. Where have the really good black heroes gone? Or better yet, are thier any good black heroes. (Black Panther excluded) (Reply to this) |

blank blank writes: on Sep 27 2007 09:21 AM balance man, i have read kingdom come, and although its a really good comic (and although im against the majority when i say that i dont care much for the way alex ross drew it), to start off the JLA movie franchise with a kingdom come type story is just a bad idea, commercially and story line wise. (if it were a trilogy, i wouldnt mind a kingdom come type third movie). as for casting kingdom come i'd go with: superman: ian mcshane batman: clint eastwood (or bruce willis) wonder woman: i'd go catherine zeta jones here (Reply to this) |

aknddon3 writes: on Sep 27 2007 01:12 PM It would be so easy to use Hal Jordan, the first movie would be him becoming Green Lantern and having to fight off Sinestro, the second film would be his fall from grace and turning into Pharalax(sp) then introducing John, Kyle and Guy. The third movie would be the rebirth movie. IT IS SO LOGICAL THAT IT IS NOT EVEN FUNNY. (Reply to this) |

talan7 writes: on Sep 27 2007 03:40 PM In reply to this comment (#1151865) If you were a African American actor who hadn't worked in a while because there weren't many role you probqly wouldn't be too offended. I agree with the politics though, and with the killing off of the black characters. It's like, let's put a black character there, then they don't develop them. (Reply to this) |
