I can't recommend Juwanna Mann and yet I admire the pluck of the actors, especially Nunez, Fox and Tommy Davidson.

Soon his swanky mansion is being repossessed and he's stuck carrying groceries for his Aunt Ruby. Then he hits on an idea crazy enough to work: He disguises himself as a woman, dubbed Juwanna Mann, and with the unwitting help of his long-suffering agent (Kevin Pollack) lands a contract with the WNBA Charlotte Banshees. At first it's just a chance to flaunt his skills, but soon Jamal is learning the value of teamwork, especially after he falls head over heels for Banshee captain Michelle (Vivica Fox). The film relies on a colorful string of familiar cliches, but they succeed because of its witty script and winning cast. Of particular note are IN LIVING COLOR alumni Kim Wayans as a shy lesbian and Tommy Davidson as the gold-teeth-flashing Puff Smokey Smoke, who falls for Juwanna. R&B crooner Ginuwine is Puff's honey smooth pal Romeo, who is two-timing Michelle. WNBA stars such as Teresa Witherspoon appear as themselves. JUWANNA MANN is the first feature film for music video director Jesse Vaughan. [More]

Reviews for Juwanna Mann
Juwanna know what we think of this movie? It stinks. The jokes are bad, the stereotypes are tired, and the story is predictable and full of holes.
Some comedies are so funny that they make your sides ache from laughter. "Juwanna Mann" just makes you ache.
A sloppy, amusing comedy that proceeds from a stunningly unoriginal premise.
Juwanna Mann is full of airballs, mainly because we've seen these plays before.
As predictable as the outcome of a Globetrotters-Generals game, Juwanna Mann is even more ludicrous than you'd expect from the guy-in-a-dress genre, and a personal low for everyone involved.
... the teamwork is shoddy, the plays lack surprise and, finally, "Juwanna Mann" misses more than it hits.
On its own staggeringly unoriginal terms, this gender-bending comedy is generally quite funny.
It's disappointing when filmmakers throw a few big-name actors and cameos at a hokey script.
If you know the premise of this movie, you know the plot and you undoubtedly know the jokes.
You cannot guess why the cast and crew didn’t sign a pact to burn the negative and the script and pretend the whole thing never existed.
If you're willing to make like an amnesiac and buy the silly plot, there's fun to be had.
It's tempting to call traveling on Juwanna Mann, except it never goes anywhere. This film fouls out.
This limp gender-bender-baller from a first-time director and rookie screenwriter steals wholesale from that 1982's Tootsie, forgetting only to retain a single laugh.
Some movies are so astonishingly, obviously bad, you're left wondering who in the world would even consider going to see them.
Perhaps there is only so much originality that can be mined from a premise that has been done every which way but loose, but how deeply can you laugh when you see the jokes coming a mile away?
