Tarantino & Rodriguez to Team Up for Weinstein Horror Combo
by Scott Weinberg | May 26, 2005
Discuss Article
Variety brings news of an upcoming collaboration between old pals Quentin Tarantino ("Kill Bill") and Robert Rodriguez ("Sin City"). Both directors will deliver a one-hour horror flick, and together the pair of scary tales will be released as "Grind House."

This project will hit the screens courtesy of Bob & Harvey Weinstein's new company, and it sounds like the filmmakers have hit upon a novel approach to this flick: "The film, which is planned for a spring 2006 release, also will include its own trailers, bonus materials and added extras from other filmmakers that will be packaged together between the two horror flicks in a tribute to the old, big-city movie houses like those on New York's 42nd Street that earned the moniker grindhouses for programming genre pics back to back." But if the boys want to have their movie ready for next Spring, they better get to work soon!

This will be downright awsome. Like I have said earlier, Tarintino, like him or not, is the man. I can't believe I see people saying "this sounds badass" when news about some run of the mill horror movie releases a trailer or a tidbit of news, but when two of the most badass directors on the face of the planet, plan to make a collaboration and it's going to be a horror movie, everyone is down on it, what is that?. I've been waiting for a downright straight horror movie and I think these two could be the ones to deliver. But.......

With that being said, I hope it doesn't suck. ;)

As twisted as Tarintino can be....well, I don't really have anything to say to contradict that point, but still, I think together they are a good concoction for "in your face, down your thoat, through your intestines" type of horror!

What's the over/under on the film reference count for these two flicks?

Either way, should be fun stuff. I mean, "From Dusk Till Dawn" was a hoot. I just hope Tarantino the actor doesn't appear in any frames. Then again, if Tarantino chooses to spin Polanski's "Tenant" to fit his fancy and casts himself in the staring role as Polanski did, I'd be there. That'd just be comically ingenious.
