Critic Review - ESplatter

Peter Jackson's remake of the 1933 classic is a loving homage that recreates and updates many of the familiar sequences... Unfortunately, the recreation leaves one wondering what, exactly, the point of the film is, other than indulging the director...

I have to agree with your review. I went to see this with huge expectations and was let down enormously. Other than Naomi Watts' performance almost everything including the comic reliefs and everybody felt generic to me. But the saddest thing was to see a director like Peter Jackson whoring his talents to Hollywood with this Michael Bayish mess.

Michael Bay-ish? The movie has lots of spectacle, but that is where the similarities end. The action in this movie all has some kind of point and there's actually some feel of peril, unlike something like Transformers, where you can barely see what the hell is going on. There's no point in this film where that happens.
