Okay, I can appreciate the original for what it was. If it weren't for that movie, this movie would not have happened, (most likely.) But why would you want a newer movie to match the simplicity of the original? For one thing, the original is over simplistic. The dame in distress, scared of the big ape, and saved by the men only to crawl on the empire state's building until the bad ape dies. Naomi Watts brings life into her time spent with the ape, and learns to love him. How anyone would prefer the original screaming Faye Ray is beyond me. She was a good screamer, but not very convincing as to the realism of the situation.
