"Zoom" is soaring, flying high into the rarified territory where only seven films before it have ventured. The film, which stars Tim Allen and Courteney Cox, is joining an exclusive club -- films with more than 20 reviews that have garnered not a single "Fresh" rating from critics. In other words, we're talking nada, zilch, zero. More...
A cast that includes two Oscar winners (Charlize Theron and Frances McDormand) and some top-flight supporting players (Pete Postlethwaite and Jonny Lee Miller). A big-budget remake of a visionary, unique MTV cartoon. The sophomore film by a director (Karyn Kusama) whose debut ("Girlfight") won high praise (it's at 89 percent on the Tomatometer). So why wasn't "Aeon Flux," this week's only wide release, screened for critics? Uh, no points for guessing. More...
This week at the movies brings four studies in aviation. What happens when you're trapped on a plane with a creepy seatmate? (See "Red Eye.") Is it ever too late for Cupid's arrows to take flight? (Check out "The 40 Year-Old Virgin.") Were the unsung heroes of the Allies in WWII? pigeons? ("Valiant," this one's for you.) Isn't it cool when those Supercross dudes, like, totally go up in the air, and like, for a few seconds, y'know, it looks like they're, like, flying? (Ahem?."Supercross: The Movie.") And most important of all: which of these flicks will fly with the critics? More...

But while analysts predicted the flick would easily land in the top spot, the movie opened even stronger than expected. "The Interpreter" hauled in $22.8 million in over 2,700 theaters. More...

For more mature audiences, there?s the Nicole Kidman and Sean Penn political thriller ?The Interpreter.? For teens looking for love, there?s the Ashton Kutcher and Amanda Peet romantic comedy ?A Lot Like Love.? For laughs, there are two choices ? the Stephen Chow kung fu comedy hit ?Kung Fu Hustle? and the Anthony Anderson kidnapping comedy ?King?s Ransom.? More...
Sure, sure, it was the only wide release to open this past weekend, so obviously "The Amityville Horror" was bound to hit the #1 spot. But what's pleasantly surprising (to the producers, anyway) is the news that the haunted house remake scared up $23.3 million in over 3,300 theaters. Although "Amityville" did come up short of "Texas Chainsaw Massacre" and its $28 million opening frame, the filmmakers can take solace in the fact that "Horror" cost less than $20m to produce ... and is therefore (almost) cutting a profit already.
