NEVER BEEN KISSED: Drew Barrymore gets what others only dream about in this charming, fun comedy: a second chance to right the wrongs of high school! At 25, Josie Geller is the youngest copy editor at the Chicago Sun-Times, and the obvious choice to go undercover on a story about what the "cool kids" of high school are up to. A dorky teen dubbed "Grossie Josie" the first time around, this time Josie is required to make friends with the popular kids in order to deliver on her assignment. Unfortunately, now that Josie has come into her own as an intelligent young woman with a career and a brain in her head, those aren't the people she's interested in; as she begins to develop feelings for a teacher she's been ordered to portray badly, things start to get really complicated! Will Josie redeem herself from the mistakes she made in her high school years, or will she find herself repeating them all over again? JUST MARRIED: Juggling slapstick comedy with witty dialogue and youthful romance, JUST MARRIED provides an entertaining and optimistic glimpse of young relationships and the struggle to stay in love in a world where everything goes wrong. A chance encounter on a beach brings Tom (Ashton Kutcher, DUDE, WHERE'S MY CAR?) and Sarah (Brittany Murphy, 8 MILE) into each other's lives. They quickly fall in love and agree to get married. Although Sarah's wealthy family does not approve of their daughter's fiancé, Tom and Sarah believe they can sustain themselves on love, and so they take the matrimonial plunge. As soon as they are married, however, things start to unravel--first in their newlywed suite, next on the airplane to their honeymoon in Italy, then in the five-star Hotel du Rêve in France. Pretty soon the couple is living out a hellish version of Murphy's Law, and divorce begins to look hilariously ominous. When Sarah's old flame shows up at their hotel in Venice to cause further trouble, Tom responds with a jealous outburst that lands the newlyweds in jail. Tom and Sarah survive their misadventures long enough to face the ultimate test of their marriage vows, when each reveals a secret that threatens to spoil their relationship entirely. SAY IT ISN'T SO: With SAY IT ISN'T SO, the Farrelly Brothers (THERE'S SOMETHING ABOUT MARY, DUMB AND DUMBER) give their former First Assistant Director J. B. Rogers a shot at the big time. The result is another crude comedy that finds laughs in a series of outrageous situations. Working from a script by first-timers Peter Gaulke and Gerry Swallow, the film tells the confused story of orphan Gilly Noble (Chris Klein), who is employed at an animal shelter in Shelbyville, Indiana. When he lands in the barber's chair of the beautiful Jo Wingfield (Heather Graham), he's convinced he's found the woman of his dreams. A passionate, steamy romance develops, but when Gilly finds out that he and Jo are actually offspring from the same parents, Valdine (Sally Field) and Walter Wingfield (Richard Jenkins), he becomes a social outcast. Jo flees to Beaver, Oregon, to reunite with her former fiancé, the wealthy but conniving Jack Mitchelson (Eddie Cibrian), but when Gilly learns that he isn't Jo's brother after all, he must track her down to win back her affections. Unfortunately, Valdine wants Jack's money, so she will do whatever it takes to keep the truth from coming out. Featuring likeable performances by both Klein and Graham, Rogers's debut is a raucous comedy with a solid supporting cast. [More]
