Now that class struggle and Western literature have been debased, all that's left is the music of Queen - " We Will Rock You " plays whenever the tilting begins.
While this risk has its pay-offs and its flaws, overall, the film is predictable and clichéd, and I more than once had a feeling of déjà vu.
| Original Score: 2.5/4
There's enough intelligent wit and physical goofiness to keep us smiling, and the occasional shift to serious drama, sentimentality and romance isn't too clunky.
| Original Score: 3.5/5
the sort of film that junior high school students will adore... and then rent ten years from now and wonder what they were thinking.

The anachronistic music I can deal with. It was the sheer boredom that annoyed me.
| Original Score: 3/10
It's an enjoyable romp and Heath Ledger is a likeably vulnerable hero and Mark Addy a good-natured realistic foil.
The approach may be highly original, just as the ingredients are familiar but Helgeland has fashioned a delicious new recipe from them.
| Original Score: 4/5
Instead of pulling young audiences imaginatively back into the past, A Knight's Tale cheapens the process by demonstrating that there's no essential difference between then and now.
Like Shrek, A Knight's Tale takes its soundtrack from pop songs of today, but, not at all like Shrek, A Knight's Tale is insulting, boring, and sad.
| Original Score: 2
The movie promises to rock you, and much of the time it does.
The result is half Python, half Ivanhoe -- and not as much fun as either.
| Original Score: 3/5
As much a marketing ploy as a full-blown movie.
The jousting scenes are incredible to watch.
| Original Score: 3/4
...this is the kind of movie that has no interest whatsoever in at least operating inside respectable boundaries.
| Original Score: 2/4
A delightful fable.
A confused bore of a picture, intermittently entertaining, but bogged down by so many dull patches that it barely seems to be moving at all.
| Original Score: 2/5
Ledger is an appealing hero, and the movie is harmless enough.
So much swashbuckling silliness, a romantic adventure film that tips its hand long before it reaches the final joust.
"A Knight's Tale" is a bold melding of a modern rock score and culture with the medieval jousting tournament circuit of the 14th century.
