Critic Review - Screen International

Substituting action for charm, the sequel is a visual treat but not a sufficient comedic or narrative one, taking only modest advantage of Jack Black's game voice work.

Crud monkeys! The first review counted is negative? I wasn't expecting that...

The first review for the first one was rotten too, so this doesn't say much.

Wasn't saying it was going to reflect the overall praise (or lack thereof) of the film, but I thought for sure the first would be positive.

Coming from someone who has seen the film, this is extremely upsetting especially because this is a great sequel!

Well Tim Grierson also thought Burlesque was a great movie. Just a different target audience.

I don't see any reason for a sequel, story wise, of course the money is a good reason just not for me.

Completely with you on that one. I liked the first one, and one film about a fighting panda is suffice...

Get ready to be thrilled because someday this awesome sequel is going to outgross the first, but don't count on it because it only depends on how much is going to make. I'm going to disagree with that rotten rating, btw.

would I be wrong if I speculate that the producers of The Hangover 2 is paying some reviewers to thrash Kung fu Panda 2? While doing the news search I found at least 10 reviews from different websites but all of them have the same title, "KFP2 lovely but lacks the fresh kick." If that's true, its pathetic..........

Yeah, because Hangover 2 and KF Panda 2 are going for the same demographic, that would totally make sense

Ahh yes. Kung fu panda has the potential of stealing a lot of adult viewers. You don't have to genius to figure that out. Most of the online actions are mostly done by young adults and adults. Without doubt KFP 2 is the top choice for kids, it is also entering the territory where TH2 is considered to be prevalent. So I can see that happening. And look at all the top critics. KFP 2 is 100% among top critics....

C'mon. None of us have seen it. Let's not judge...YET!

I mean, we all know it's not going to be a Toy Story...

Lets not judge? Then what do you think you are doing by bringing in the "toy story" comparison. Don't need to hide your Pixar Allegiance.
