Will Angelina Jolie Be Returning for "Tomb Raider 3"?
by Scott Weinberg | December 20, 2006
Discuss Article
Considering how weak the first two movies were, this news strikes me as kinda disturbing ... but apparently someone in MovieLand is hoping to get a "Tomb Raider 3" off the ground! Ack!

It seems that the guys who make the "Tomb Raider" games are the ones pulling for a new "Tomb Raider" movie -- and I wish someone would make them stop.

From ComingSoon.net and EuroGamer: ""There's a possibility - we've been talking to Paramount, who've agreed to assign a scriptwriter," he told EGTV. "That's nowhere near the green-light process but it's a very healthy start to have a scriptwriter which they're going to pay serious amounts of money to write the first script."
--

"He" being Ian Livingstone, head of Edios Interactive.

Thoughts from the peanut gallery? Anyone out there think "Tomb Raider 3" would be a good idea? Personally I don't think Angelina Jolie would even be interested at this point.

Yeah I really doubt she'd be willing to do it.

The first made $131 million and the second one made a little bit more than $65million.

I guess the third one would make close to $30 million with a budget of around $100 million. So there gonna make so much profits off it.

The internation boxoffice wasn't even good for the second one

i thought both nad their moments.
i could easily watch these again. even more so than the resident evil sequel and why are they making more of them!?

hey, she could take the speilberg approach: make the popcorn movie(war of the worlds) to get the oscar-worthy one made (munich). she can use the same approach: mr & mrs smith for good shepherd, and so on…

because the latter actually makes money. not a lot but enough.

but they can use the movie to advertise a new game from which they will make a bundle of cash from

I wouldnt be surprised if this movie gets made. I just wouldnt expect Angelina to come back for it. I'd expect some unknown actress trying to get her start to play the role, and for the movie to be straight to DVD. I think eidos has a better shot at making money giving the rights to the franchise to a porn studio.

I actually enjoyed both Tomb Raider films. IMO, some of the better video game to movie adaptations. And, if they can't get Angelina back, then, hopefully someone who can work the Lara Croft charm just as good. Bring on Tomb Raider 3!
