  • Just as the Nazi army is posed to invade Norway at the beginning of World War II, an aging Norwegian merchant mariner re-enlists in the army to join what he hopes will be a strong resistance. Instead, he finds an army in disarray. Deciding he cannot live with himself without making an effort, the Last Lieutenant takes matters into his own hands and braces himself and a ragtag group of volunteers for a confrontation. Based on a true story the film explores some basic issues of patriotism, freedom and conscience.
