In 1911, Ishi, the sole survivor of an Indian tribe massacred during the 1800s, reluctantly emerged from his years in hiding. Anthropologist Alfred Kroeber quickly became fascinated by Ishi and made it his mission to uncover all the secrets of the Yahi tribe so they would not perish with Ishi's death.
