RT, in partnership with the Edinburgh International Film Festival, is proud to announce that the recipient of the first Rotten Tomatoes Critical Consensus Award, presented last night in the Scottish city, is Let the Right One In.

Let the Right One In is a delicate coming-of-age story about a 12 year-old Swedish boy called Oskar which blends seamlessly with a creative and inspired vampire tale when it turns out that the girl he's falling in love with, his new neighbour Eli, has a dark secret.

Already attracting stellar notices, the film played to audiences in Edinburgh this week and beat off tough competition for the award - four films from the festival's Directors' Showcase section: Red, The Kreutzer Sonata, The Visitor and Summer Hours.

The winner was decided by a panel of leading UK film critics; Wendy Ide of the The Times, Dave Calhoun of Time Out, Anna Smith of Elle Magazine, Charles Gant of Heat, David Edwards of The Mirror and Chris Tilly of IGN.

At a party last night in the heart of Edinburgh, RT's UK editor Joe Utichi presented the award to Mark Jones, representing the film's distribution company Momentum Pictures. Jones read an email from the film's producer, Carl Molinder accepting the trophy.

"Wow, Even if Rotten Tomatoes scared us at first we are very happy that we won," Molinder wrote. "We are proud of our film and honored for this award. Thanks a lot to everyone that [has] anything to do with this"
