With a dynamite cast, an iconic screenwriter in rocker Nick Cave and an Aussie director in John Hillcoat, you assume a new classic. What you get is an ambitious try.
It sounds like he didn't love the film but he certainly didn't hate on it much. I think this should count as a fresh review. Also Dictator didn't get a great review so I don't know where you got that from.
Why are you criticizing him for liking a film with a 58% and for disliking something with a 66%. I mean both those ratings are mixed, so plenty of critics liked and disliked each. I liked The Dictator too and this movie I thought just wasn't very good. So I agree with Travers. And Ebert thought the same too.
I disagree with anyone who think Lawless is crappy, Lawless was a damn great movie! I hold it a dear place to me because my family came from The South and made and ran moonshine, so I have a big understandin' on this movie. But enough of the family anecdote, this film, in my opinion flowed very well, it was nicely filmed, everything on it was damn good. I can tell you on the other hand that The Dictator and Sasha Cohen is just flat out lousy, what makes it lousy, Sasha Cohen, I never liked him

You know I never did trust Pete Travers to begin with, giving Dictator a great review over a film like this is a sign of mental impairment -_-

Why do people do this? "Oh, Critic liked x comedy, but he doesn't like this new drama? What an idiot!"
If you're gonna do comparison make sure the movies are similar, or AT LEAST in the same drama. Otherwise it's just ad hominem stupidity.
