High-powered New York divorce attorneys Daniel Rafferty (Pierce Brosnan) and Audrey Woods (Julianne Moore) have seen love gone wrong in all its worst case scenarios – so how bad could their own chances be? At the top of their respective games, Audrey and Daniel are a classic study in opposites. She practices law strictly by the book; he always manages to win by the seat of his pants. But soon they’re pitted against each other on opposite sides of a nasty public divorce between famous clients (Parker Posey and Michael Sheen), with the case centering on an Irish castle which each future divorcee has their sights set on. Audrey and Daniel travel to Ireland to chase down separate depositions, yet the two lawyers, who have slowly been developing a mutual attraction that neither wants to acknowledge, find themselves thrown together at a romantic Irish country festival. Naturally, after a night of wild celebrating, they wake up the next morning as man and wife. Now they have to return to New York to carry on with their surprising new situation and the ongoing court case. Maybe getting married first is the best way to fall in love? Pierce Brosnan and Julianne Moore star in the romantic comedy Laws of Attraction, directed by Peter Howitt (Sliding Doors). The film’s ensemble cast also features Parker Posey (A Mighty Wind), Michael Sheen (Underworld), Nora Dunn (Bruce Almighty) and Frances Fisher (Titanic). The screenplay is written by Aline Brosh McKenna and Robert Harling from a story by McKenna. The producers are David T. Friendly, Marc Turtletaub, Beau St. Clair, Julie Durk and David Bergstein. The executive producers are Pierce Brosnan, Moritz Borman, Basil Iwanyk, Bob Yari, Mark Gordon, Mark Gill, Arthur Lappin, Elie Samaha, Toby Emmerich, Guy Stodel and Oliver Hengst. The co-producer is Paul Myler. New Line Cinema will release Laws of Attraction (rated PG-13 by the M.P.A.A. for “sexual content and language”) in theaters nationwide on April 30th, 2004. [More]

Reviews for Laws of Attraction
... painfully predictable, full of super-sized implausibilities, and crowded with supporting characters that are underdeveloped and overplayed.
What's perfect for [Moore] is that the movie uses manic farce to crack the self-possession that usually keeps her so remote from us.
The two lead players ... seem the least likely of anyone in the film to fight for themselves, unless you give them very large cocktails.
Like a Lladro statuette, this milky film is pretty and hollow, intellectually suspect but capable of providing a warm frisson of well-being
The actors work hard to concoct some chemistry, but it's tough to be Tracy and Hepburn, let alone Doris Day and Rock Hudson, when you’re trying to get your mouth around lines that wouldn't pass muster on a UPN sitcom.
O único elemento que salva esta produção do desastre total é o carisma da dupla de protagonistas.
With its preposterous premise, it’s hard to imagine what could have possessed this top-notch cast to get involved in this fiasco of a film…. the script is a disaster
Akin to your favorite “American Idol” contestant being prematurely knocked out is seeing two very likable actors trapped in a disappointing film.
