Critic Review - Variety

While all that is artful about Let Me In comes straight from the original, the Hollywood version commands respect for not dumbing things down.

"not dumbing things down" and "removing a key scene" while adding action scenes seem like contradictory ideas.

But I expected it all along...
We must sanitize everything for strange Puritanical tastes. More brutal violence: A-ok.....Sexuality: won't somebody please think of the children!

Beyond that, though, you pinpoint what seemed obvious about the trailers:

"'Let Me In" is so similar as to leave some wondering, "Why bother?'"

Because some people will never be caught dead watching a subtitled film, probably. So it appears those folks are getting a well-made English language film that misses a bit of the resonance of the original as a trade-off.
