RT on DVD & Blu-Ray: Life of Pi and Rise of the Guardians

Summary

This week on home video, we've got four new releases that are Certified Fresh, including one multiple Oscar-winner, one animated adventure, a music doc, and an indie drama about alcoholism. On top of that, there's also the relatively well-received biopic about Alfred Hitchcock and the making of Psycho and a quirky Sean Penn-powered road trip drama. Lastly, we have a feature adaptation of the famed Cirque du Soleil troupe's performances, as well as a handful of notable reissues. Click through for the full list! Back to Article

Definitely getting Life of Pi and Rise of The Guardians. Two great movies from last fall.

Lots of good stuff. Definite rentals for "Hitchcock", "Smashed" and "Sound City", and the deluxe editions of "Roger Rabbit" and "Ministry of Fear" look enticing. Wouldn't mind seeing "Life of Pi" again either.

Blind-Bought Hitchcock. Expected much worse, wound really liking it. Loved Anthony Hopkins, Helen Mirren, and ScarJo (who was surprisingly good).

Looking forward to it. I really didn't like the TV movie "The Girl" about Hitch and Teppi Hedron, so it most certainly has to be better than that.

Wow, Sean Penn keeps this up and he's gonna be officially known as the King of the Feel Good movies.

I was left breathless by "Life of Pi" in the theater, but it's not one I'll need to own. I recently watched "Guardians" again at my Dad's house (4th time) and while it's still cute and fun enough, I don't need to own it. "Hitchcock" sounds interesting, I'll probably Redbox it.

Props to RT, I think that's the best description of Life of Pi and my feelings about it.

Life of PI will make you believe in god! Or help you explain why there is no God. It's that Ambiguous!! Great read, have not yet seen the movie. Looking forward to it.

Great film. 3d is equal if not superior to Hugo.

Sadly much like this film. I read Hugo and never saw the movie. Hugo is currently streaming on Netflix though there would not be any 3D option.

Another good week for movie releases! I'll be getting Life of Pi which is one of my favorite movies of 2012 and Rise of the Guardians, another movie I enjoyed. Hitchcock may also be worth the pickup!

LIFE OF "PI" deserved Best Picture as well (assuming DJANGO and SILVER LININGS had no shot at winning). I've always found ROGER RABBIT to be overrated.
