It's more like a series of sentimental greeting cards suitable at differing stages of a relationship, from sparkling first love to broken relationship to marriage and out of it ... The screenplay is rather formless and for the most part, tedious.

I am outside the "target audience" range you identified and I still see this movie as a very honest look at the hardcore reality of love. The brilliance of the director lies in the fact that he presents something so hardcore under the cover of pretty images and greeting cards. If you cannot distinguish between foolish sentimentality and this, then you need to criticize your own critical reviews.
