Critic Review - NPR

This Lincoln isn't an abstracted, infallible ideal, but rather a deeply conflicted, often lonely leader simply trying to do the right thing - even if that means a few wrong things along the way.

My heart sank when I saw what Spielberg had done to keep alive the folklore about Lincoln. Good acting, sets and costumes are not enough to make this film shine. It could have been a great film if it had told the truth about Lincoln. Alas, for me, this film loses power with its short shrift of slavery, racism and its narrow, uninspired focus on Washington politics as usual. Indeed, one man did not unite us all as a promo caption states. Lincoln never wanted to unite White people with Black people. I'll be interested in how others view it. My review is on Internet Movie Database. Onward and upward, ~ e
