The actors are better than the sum of it's parts...
here is no denying that Daniel Day Lewis's portrayal of Lincoln will likely be the standard for all past and future incarnations of Lincoln. The movie is good but not quite as good as the actors.
I agree. I have mixed feelings on this movie. It seems to me that only moviegoers with a love for history and internal political battles played out almost documentary/theatrical style will like this movie.
It has its flaws and a very narrow focus that doesn't allow it to breathe.
It's a solid movie with very good performances, but it's just missing that little something (perhaps emotional resonance) that could have made it great.
but here is the deal,,i love history, all kinds of history, and i still found this movie tedious. And the "deal-making" and arm-twisting is bit of a one-note joke that repeats itself. Bottom line, i would have enjoyed seeing more of Lincoln's history, and not just this chapter. Essentially, this is one chapter in a book about Lincoln

The story and cinematography are beautiful but the actors were a great part of this movie's success.
