Too many nominations for Skyfall. Thomas Newman? Seriously? He was only nominted because of Adele's theme song.

Exactly.I didn't think it was great at all.Definitely doesn't deserve to be on any of the lists.

Skyfall is an excellent example of how to promote a franchise. It was EVERYWHERE. From beer commercials, to the Olympics, to 60 Mins. you couldn't turn around without running into Bond. Add to that the fact that, although not a great film, it was a serviceable action/thriller/drama Bond film. Critics and audiences were so happy that the movie that had been bombarding their senses for months wasn't total shit.

Uh, Thomas Newman has been nominated 10 times, although I will admit this wasn't one of his best scores. He should have won for SHAWSHANK or WALL*E. He's my favorite living composer. Still, SKYFALL deserves cinematography at the very, very least; Roger Deakins is another SHAWSHANK veteran who's been ignored for far too long. I was actually upset he didn't get the Oscar for TRUE GRIT.

Do films that "rock" deserve Awards?

Skyfall is actually deserving of all of its nominations. (Certainly more so than Les Mis.)

I do think Skyfall is surprisingly getting a lot of buzz but deservedly so maybe it doesn't deserve as high as 94 but I don't know anybody who would give it a negative rating so it made sense

skyfall deserves almost all nominations(xcept 4 soundtrack).bt definitely it does NOT deserve a single win.

It's odd that Les Mis got a Best Pic nomination without Screenplay, Director or Editing.

It is called politics. Les Mis was terrible.

I was excited of the idea of adapting Hugo's novel... but a musical film for the story is completely ridiculous.

I've no doubt of that, but fans of the novel felt disappointed for a wasted opportunity. I haven't seen the film yet, but Hathaway looks ridiculous in the trailers.

Jacob Barber

Fans of the novel got a film adaptation in the mid-90's which was pretty decent. Fans of the musical get Tom Hooper's steaming turd of a movie.

Les Mis was awful. I guess they have to give their British filmmakers some love, though.

Not a memorable year for British films if they're going to include an action film such as "Skyfall" in the "Outstanding film category"!

Not British or Affleck enough apparently :). Seriously though, I think there's something in the BAFTA bylaws that says if Helen Mirren makes a film she has to get a nomination for it.

Helen Mirren to the UK awards like Streep to the Oscars! There's no sure thing this year unlike last year where "The King's Speech" swept every category it was nominated on or the "Four Weddings and a Funeral" movie- this time the UK are putting out more mediocres and counting on Skyfall to win on some of it's categories!

TDKR had the best crafted visual effects of the year. The final scene involving The Bat escaping the missiles is technically brilliant, in fact, so much you don't even realize it's CG. Would you prefer the crappy blu-screen use of "The Avengers"?

I believe it's coming down to Lincoln and Zero Dark Thirty this award season. I hope for god's sake Les Miserables is not a serious contender for anything other than supporting actress and technical awards.

I don't think it will be. May win one for Hathaway and probably costume design, but I think you're safe for the other categories. It's really not that bad a movie, unless you really just don't like musicals.

So many mistakes here. Life of Pi for best picture? Please. Ben Affleck for his acting in Argo? Please. (Argo was good, but his performance was nothing special.) No best director for Steven Spielberg? Please. I can't take any of these noms seriously now.
