Let's be clear about this, The Dark Knight Rises was good but not even near as The Dark Knight, that was a masterpiece!! The Dark Knight Rises main problem was the voice of Bane, couldn't understand what he was saying most of the time, and he was a terrible villian, but I will admit I did like Anna Hathaway as Catwoman, finally that character done right!! I hate Leo but I was upset when he wasn't nominated for Django Unchained, that was a terrific movie, he did a great job in that playing the villian but Waltz was better and also mad as hell that Tatinio wasn't nominated for best director!! That is all!!

TDKR >>>> TDK by a long shot. AFI giving TDKR it's number one film of the year rank kind of proves it. I loved all three Nolan bat films but TDK ranks last imo. Batman Begins and TDKR were better from a storyline stand point.

And you had problems understanding Bane? Really?

I wouldn't mind seeing Lincoln win BP but Spielberg lose BD. It'll be interesting to see how Les Mis and Anna Karenina fare out in the artsy categories.

Again Leonardo DiCaprio will not have a chance to win his first Oscar in his career. Alan Arkin was good in Ben Affleck's "Argo" but not worth the nomination. Will Leo win his Academy Award?

And Kathryn Bigelow is absent from the Best Director category. While I don't believe "Zero Dark Thirty" is the best picture of the year, I believe that Bigelow's direction (particularly in the final 30 minutes) should've nailed her AT LEAST a nomination.

In the end, the Academy has disappointed me yet again.

Well now I don't think Zero Dark Thirty will win, it was looking almost a lock until today. I didn't really like that film that much, it was properly made but it lacked likeliness and depth for most of the characters. Also the screenplay wasn't anything special from what I could judge, I hope it doesn't win there either.

Wreck-It Ralph for Best Animation, The Hobbit for best makeup, The Avengers for best effects, The Longest Daycare for short film, Skyfall for best song, and Lincoln for best director, best picture, and best costume.

My guess is that Best Picture will go to either Lincoln or Zero Dark Thirty ( The others might have a good shot I just think those 2 have the best chance. ).

I'm glad The Invisible War was nominated, but disappointed Paul Thomas Anderson is no where to be seen. The Master and Django Unchained deserved more nominations, Les Mis and Silver Linings Playbook deserved less. Leo once again ignored unfortunately. And honestly, you have 1 extra slot open for best picture and don't nominate The Master? That's pretty lame.

Glad to see Argo, Django and Skyfall getting love. I like how Skyfall managed to edge past blockbusters like Avengers and TDKR for technical awards. Deserves it. :D

Am I the only one who thinks Argo is overrated on quite a few levels. First of all, Alan Arkin. He was good but this category is stacked. Leonardo DiCaprio or Dwight Henry or even Fassbender could have filled that slot. The movie itself is really good as well but not as good as people make out. When I walked out of the movie, I realized I didn't really care about the characters all that much. I feel like people like it because it feels familiar. There's an assembling of a team. A period where all hope looks like it's lost and it's based on a true story. Lastly, I think Ben Affleck is a bit overrated as a director. There is nothing distinctive about his style and I personally don't think he belonged on the list. Paul Thomas Anderson and Quentin Tarantion was the real snub. All of this being said, I still liked all these things yet I think they were a little overrated. Just my opinion.

I agree that Alan Arkin shouldn't be there. Leo should have filled the slot instead. I can see why some people think Argo is overrated, but I enjoyed it quite a bit. It is my #3 in my top ten of 2012.

I'm surprised that Javiaer Bardems's portrayal in Sky fall along with Judi Dench's weren't nominated for best sporting actor/actresses. But FUCK YEAH for Django

Alright, here's my two cents.
Affleck and Bigelow definitely should have been nominated for best director. Seriously, Russel directs a rom-com about a guy with mental disabilities and he gets a nomination? And can we stop with the Spielberg train. Greatest producer of all-time, mediocre director. Lincoln was a bad film, boring, uninteresting, and the only thing that saved it was the acting.
Also, why do we still think Alan Arkin is a good actor? That spot should have went to Leo DiCaprio, and this is coming from a guy who thinks he's the most overrated actor of this generation, but he killed it in Django.
And does anyone realize that Day-Lewis is probably going to break the record for most wins for Best Acting with 3, should be 4 for Gangs of New York.

You Sir are insane if you don't think Spielbergo is a great director. The movie's he directs Schindler's List, Close Encounters, Jaws, Indiana Jones 1-3, E.T., Saving Private Ryan, Jurassic Park are always better than the ones he just produces like Transformers. Like Lincoln or don't, I think it was the best movie of the year that I saw (Caveat haven't seen Silver Linings Playbook or Django yet). E.T., Schindlers or Jaws alone would cement any director above the rank of mediocre. Agree with you DDL should have won for Gangs though, his best performance to date. THIS IS A NIGHT FOR AMERICANS!!!

Mediocre director? Oh, that's right, he directed those really sub-par films, like Jaws, Raiders of the Lost Ark, Shindler's List, Saving Private Ryan, and E.T. Yeah, you're right, he's a complete hack.

Les Miserables does not deserve a nomination over films like The Master, Moonrise Kingdom, Looper being in the running. Heck, I'd even nominate Seven Psychopaths or The Hobbit over that mus... I mean movie.
