Am I the only one who thinks Argo is overrated on quite a few levels. In my opinion Alan Arkin, Ben Affleck, and the movie itself are all overrated. Still good, yet overrated.

I'm with you on Alan Arkin. Leo should've been in that spot.

Me too; Arkin was amusing, but he was barely in the film and had very little significance to the plot.

Alan Arkin shouldn't be there at all.

Wasn't John Hawkes supposed to be nominated for The Sessions? I thought he was getting nominated for all the other major awards...

I know CLOUD ATLAS and THE DARK KNIGHT RISES were dark horses for best picture, but it's shocking that neither received any technical award nominations. Both movies were risky studio movies that deserved some awards attention.

While I have a lot of things to say about certain nominations like the rest, it still bugs me how the Academy always overlooks the films geared toward the younger, more immediate generation. Especially Harry Potter! I may be in that generation, but honestly Alan Rickman deserved a nod and the last movie should've gotten a lot more nods than technical ones. But like I was saying, I think The Perks of Being A Wallflower was a huge snub. Yeah, a lot like The Breakfast Club some say, but really it was very good and the BAFTAs and other critics awards put them down as nominees. Besides that, yeah Leo was snubbed definitely, Waltz is good, but everyone says Leo was fantastic. So glad Anne is nominated, if she wasn't that would be a huge travesty. Very happy also with Denzel getting a nod after so many years, he was amazing in Flight! Same with Joaquin. I'm sorry to those who think otherwise, but I think Bradley Cooper just snuck in on this one. Jennifer Lawrence deserved a nod but I think more-so for the Hunger Games.

Also, what happened with The Avengers and The Dark Knight Rises? Hasn't the Academy noticed ignoring the franchise movies is no longer a bad thing? You give Ledger the Oscar and that is it. Not okay.

The Dark Knight Rises completely ignored. Just reminds me why I am constantly annoyed with the Academy. They seem incapable of recognizing many films outside of the "drama" movie. TDK is easily better than Lincoln or Les Mis.

Agreed, for me TDKR was the best film of the year. Great film with a great plot

Man....no DKR for at least technical categories or Supporting Actor for Leo or Director for Affleck and Kathryn? One of the most disappointing nominations and snubs I've seen for now, well besides Albert Brooks in Drive...but Leo has bigger movies this year: Great Gatsby and The Wolf of Wall Street, a crime drama directed by Martin Scorsese coming in fall..perfect award circuit time and go search some of the pictures, DiCaprio looks like he will shine this time and he will not be ignored...he needs to get an Oscar already!

How the heck did Zero Dark Thirty get a best pic nod. Oscars are now on the same par as People Choice awards. Worst movie of the year gets nominated and for a best pic. Hope Django Unchained wins.

I wouldn't put my money on Django to win best picture. Think of how controversial that would be. And the Academy doesn't like controversy. I was surprised to see them even nominate it in the first place (given the subject matter).

Those are some spectacular movies they selected, but I'm a little disappointed about Django Unchained earning less nominations than I expected. The movie was perfect just like his other films. I guess the Oscar doesn't like Quentin Tarantino, whom he's one of the flawless directors of all time. And no Leonardo DiCaprio? WTF? He definitely stole the show, and it saddens me how the Oscar never gave him an award. They must have overlooked Tarantino and Leo on purpose.

TDKR was a great film but it's anti left messages and anti Obama messages were way to clear for the far left hollywood to just let go. Add in the shooting and TDKR got screwed. It's a shame because it was supposed to be the number ten movie on the best picture list via as AFI gave TDKR the last spot on the list. AFI also ranked TDKR the best film of the year.
