I'm guessing Zero Dark Thirty is a 2013 movie for this clarification? I guess that might be a bit problematic come Golden Tomatoes 2013 (as ZDT is up for Oscars this year) but okay.

It's listed under the Thriller genre. That's just the only place I've been able to find it.

Hey, we can find it next year like we kept seeing Coriolanus pop up on so many lists this year when it was a contender for LAST year's awards.

I think because it only achieved a wide release in 2013 they consider it a limited release, in which case its 93% positive score isn't quite enough to get it into the top 10.

I find it unfair that some movies won first place just because of there score.

I can't stand it either. It is true that its how RT works, but anything 3 stars and above is fresh. Which means every critic could vote 3/5 stars and it could be 95% fresh on RT.

That's how they run their site. It's a percentage of how many people liked the movie, not the rating they gave it. If you don't like it go to another site.

Yeah, but just because they liked it doesn't mean they loved it?

The Sessions had a wide release? It's largest release was around 500 screens, how does that count as a wide release?

If you are keeping track of the movies by their score shouldn't Dredd which is 73% be in a higher place then Spiderman 73%

I can't stand the USER winner. 'The Avengers' was liked by 96% of people who rated it. That could mean they hardly liked it or loved it. They should let RT users vote at the end of the year for the USER award. The Avengers wins, but was also voted most overrated movie on a lot of sites. Let us vote for what RT users think is the best!

Definition of "overrated" when addressing movies 99.99% of the time: My opinion is outnumbered, and I don't like that it's outnumbered, so what I want everyone listening to do is pretend that all the other ones just... don't count.

The Avengers has a user score of 4.6/5 for actual ratings. You can't do much better than that, and it's a worthy winner of the award.

Good point, the average score from users is very high.

I was admittedly shocked to see "Wreck-It Ralph" placed higher on the User list than "Life of Pi", simply because "Pi" left me exhilarated, whereas "Ralph" just left me feeling like I had a good time. That's just my opinion, though, and it's possible that "Ralph" may hold up better than "Pi" on subsequent viewings.

When you make as much money as Avengers being called overrated is bound to happen.

Jan 26 - 12:19 PM

Fred Brooks

You're right, that does happen often. Anytime something or somebody achieves a lot of success, there's always people out there to instantly try to shoot them down and call them overrated. Hell some of these idiots are probally ignorant enough to call Jesus Christ overrated.

Jan 29 - 06:01 AM

Couldn't agree more with Gage Kent. He is pretty much using the same tactics that the Avengers protecters here make. They just try to censor your opinion, by calling you a hater. Anyone could do that. There is clearly a difference between "overrated" and "outnumbered" as well. Take for example Justin Bieber and Taylor Swift who are not exactly as good as music could get, that is if you really love music. But since they have the most money behind them and reach the most audiences they are usually number 1 in sales and fans. They both have the most fans, most twitter followers etc. But you have every right to say they're "overrated" because like music, film is very much in the perspective of the audience. The second time I saw The Avengers I could hardly contain my laughter at how goofy it is. That's it, peace out :p
