Little Britain - Live (2006)

[center][/center] Little Britain was bizarre, distinctly British sketch show starring Matt Lucas and David Williams in a variety of guises. They created so many hilarious characters that they could fill lots of absurd comedies. I still don't know which one is my favorite. Each sketch presented the life of British people in an exaggerated way for comedic effect. In 2005 Lucas and Williams took the show on the road, bringing many of their characters to the stage on the eighth month tour. This performance was recorded in Blackpool. Little Britain Live is a politically incorrect show which triggers off lots of belly laughs. If you like British absurd humor, this show may occur a cult classic to you. Lucas and Williams prove that they are great followers of Monty Python delivering various types of humor, including slapstick and verbal jokes. Of course, they often verge on being disgusting or profane, but the intransigence of the show, along with funny characters and laugh-out-loud situations, is the reason of its big success. The comedians also involve the audience in the show creating the most amusing sketches you'll ever see. In a nutshell, Little Britain Live is a highly original, distinctive show that is aimed at the audience favoring absurd humor. [center]My Rating: 9/10[/center][center]..................................................................[/center] [center][/center] [left]Blades of Glory is another wacky slapstick comedy starring one of my favorite comedians, Will Ferrell. His light, goofy jokes are a significant virtue here. The movie focuses on the most gay sport one can imagine: figure skating and makes it even more gay. The team of screenwriters do everything within their power to keep the film moving from one joke to another and they do it well. Don't get me wrong. This movie has lots of laugh-out-loud moments, but I think the flick could have been much better concentrating more on outrageous figures on ice than on unnecessary love thread. Why every comedy has to do something with love? Anyway, the two leads (Will Ferrell and Jon Heder) deliver dead funny performances playing two totally different ice skaters competing with each other. Besides, the supporting characters are also interesting. Especially Nick Swardson when he's onscreen delivers some hilarious one-liners. All in all, Blades of Glory won't change the world of comedy, but it's one hysterical movie well worth a watch. [/left] [center]My Rating: 7.4/10[/center]
