Synopsis: A series of concerts designed to coincide with the annual G8 Summit and to mark the 20th anniversary of Live Aid, Live 8 was held in nine cities around the globe on July 2nd, 2005. These locations... A series of concerts designed to coincide with the annual G8 Summit and to mark the 20th anniversary of Live Aid, Live 8 was held in nine cities around the globe on July 2nd, 2005. These locations included South Africa and all of the G8 nations, where over 1,000 musicians performed in the spirit of increasing awareness to issues facing impoverished nations. Some of the topics being stressed to the Summit leaders were debt relief, AIDS, the importance of fair trade, and an increase in U.S. aid to struggling countries. LIVE 8 presents standout performances from concerts across the nine cities, as well as the full list of artists from the Hyde Park and Philadelphia shows. Over 120 songs are gathered here, with appearances from such big names in music as Paul McCartney, U2, George Michael, a reunited Pink Floyd, Coldplay, Sarah McLachlan, Josh Groban, Madonna, The Who, Snoop Dogg, Bjork, Alicia Keys, Kanye West, and more.
