On her first day in the Eternal City, Lizzie meets Paolo (Yani Gellman), half of a famous Italian pop duo. Paolo and his partner, Isabella, have recently split up due to creative differences. With the exception of her blonde tresses, all-American Lizzie is a dead ringer for the dark-haired Isabella, and charming Paolo persuades her to pretend she's Isabella at an important awards show. Posing as the diva, Lizzie is waited on hand and foot and admired by millions--and she gets to hang out with a cute Italian boy who seems to like her. Of course, sneaking away from her school tour is no easy feat, especially with group leader Miss Ungermeyer (Alex Borstein) on watch. But with the help of her lifelong pal, Gordo (Adam Lamberg), who also harbors a secret crush on his best friend, Lizzie gets to live out her fantasies. Robert Carradine, Hallie Todd, Ashlie Brillault, and Clayton Snyder reprise their roles from the Disney television series of the same name in this feature from director Jim Fall (TRICK). [More]

Reviews for The Lizzie McGuire Movie
Movie’s like this aren’t supposed to be perfect in structure and form – they’re for 13-year-olds who don’t care that Lizzie doesn’t speak the language or that her suitor’s Italian has a hint of Brooklyn in it.
While the movie should prove to be manna from sit-com heaven for the show's fan base of kids ages 6-14, there's not much here to excite accompanying parents.
If you are older than this target group, you will find it rather boring and stupid.
If you fit into its target demographic, 'The Lizzie McGuire Movie' is inoffensive fluff. If your age surpasses your shoe size, you’re better off re-grouting your tile.
Duff is a charming heroine who carries the movie cheerfully, if not gracefully—the pratfalls come early and often.
Director Jim Fall has orchestrated Lizzie's dream vacation with energy and humor.
... [Duff's] a very charming young actress, but the material just isn't there.
The film is corny, predictable, and manipulative to the point that you feel like there's electrodes attached from the screen to your brain, but, by the end of this film, I’ll be damned if I didn't feel genuine affection for it and Lizzie in particular.
If the hordes of screaming kids in the audience at the screening I saw are any indication, The Lizzie McGuire Movie hits its mark.
As much as I like Hilary Duff and Lizzie McGuire, they both deserved better than this underwhelming big screen outing.
Is this the latest cinematic renaissance known as the Teeny Tart Movement? In short, The Lizzie McGuire Movie has all the significance and high-minded spirit of a vintage ‘70s Leif Garrett pin up poster covered in cobwebs
