On her first day in the Eternal City, Lizzie meets Paolo (Yani Gellman), half of a famous Italian pop duo. Paolo and his partner, Isabella, have recently split up due to creative differences. With the exception of her blonde tresses, all-American Lizzie is a dead ringer for the dark-haired Isabella, and charming Paolo persuades her to pretend she's Isabella at an important awards show. Posing as the diva, Lizzie is waited on hand and foot and admired by millions--and she gets to hang out with a cute Italian boy who seems to like her. Of course, sneaking away from her school tour is no easy feat, especially with group leader Miss Ungermeyer (Alex Borstein) on watch. But with the help of her lifelong pal, Gordo (Adam Lamberg), who also harbors a secret crush on his best friend, Lizzie gets to live out her fantasies. Robert Carradine, Hallie Todd, Ashlie Brillault, and Clayton Snyder reprise their roles from the Disney television series of the same name in this feature from director Jim Fall (TRICK). [More]

The success of The Lizzie McGuire Movie, in which Duff acts and sings while playing both her beloved character and an Italian look-alike, is probably a slam dunk. That doesn't mean it's a great movie.

Certainly, it's foolish to expect much from kids' films, but that should hardly be an excuse to create something as willfully inane and sloppy as The Lizzie McGuire Movie.

The Lizzie McGuire Movie is just the thing for all the kids out there who have come to know and love Lizzie McGuire. Anyone looking for a terrific movie the whole family can enjoy is advised to see Holes.

Altogether a wasted opportunity from a Disney organization which grows more sclerotic by the minute.

Little more than a series of mistimed gags and overused and overly cutesy animated 'asides.'

The movie is sweet and fun and so much like the Gidget movies I grew up with that I fully expected Moondoggie to show up with his surfboard.

[Borstein] is the only really delightful element in the movie; everything else is simply slick and professional.

I'll be straight with you: you're not going to love this movie. It's not meant for you. It's meant for little girls. And as a little girl, I would have loved it.

[Hilary Duff] isn't ready for the big screen -- not without a movie big enough to share it with her.

Though likely to induce a saccharine seizure for a general audience, the movie is perfect for a girls' night out for mothers and their preteen daughters.
