At the time I just went to see the movies for sheer entertainment. And sadly, thats all I got out of them. The years passed and I went through high school looking for who I was. I have to admit that who I wanted to be would never have been as big a fan as I am, of movies like these.
So, not until this year (after I graduated high school) did I decide to buy the trilogy and give these movies another shot. That has to be one of the greatest decisions I have ever made.
The Lord of the Rings Trilogy is the best series ever made. They're not the best movies ever made, but together as one, they are the best series. The first one does start off fairly slow (mainly the time spent in The Shire), but I completely understand the process of setting up a long story.
From then on, the story not only picks up, it takes off like a jet. The trilogy entertains on an intellectual level, as well as the well-choreographed action, epic battles, and beautiful landscapes. All I can say is that I'm glad I waited until I was mature enough to appreciate the beauty of this epic trilogy that Peter Jackson has created.
