The direction of Lore is so cold and distant that moments that should make us cry out in agony elicit little more than a shrug.

"LORE has too many needless details. Some to set up emotions, scenes, or story, or to put you in place of the horrors of WWII, which is fine. But others that were just unnecessary. The love-hate relationship between the main characters could have made a great story but is completely wasted. Most of the time you are left wondering why the character would behave like this in some situations. However, this film could disappoint some viewers by not maintaining traditional story structure or temporal structure in terms of leaving significant things unsaid and unexplained."

A superb film: poignant and very hard to watch at times but all-embracing and profoundly symbolic of the way things must have been for the younger generation of Germans after WW2.

a bleak and foreboding coming of age drama set in Germany during the dying days of WWII--Ethical challenges and compelling compassion!!

This is a powerful film - from its chaotic nature to its saturated colors to its natural/unnatural dichotomies. If you look past the unanswered questions (and there are quite a few), you find a story of lost innocence, maturation, and discovered truths. Some of the imagery, because of the subject matter, is gruesome, which only makes the survival of the characters more engrossing.

It is commonly known that the whole world has a severe disdain for Nazis, especially for Hitler. As a result, there have been loads of films which show how foul the Nazis were. In contrast this film portrays the events from the perspective of loyal Nazis. Lore helps us to remember that those who supported Hitler were people as well, regular people like us, misguided though they may have been.

This was beautifully shot and looks very stylish which contrasts dramatically against the bleak storyline. It tells of the first days of a new Germany after the second world war but through the eyes of innocent children who have never fully grasped the horror of the regime their parents have supported. It's the aftermath of war but told from a very different perspective, if you can cope with the relentless bleakness of it then it's a good movie to catch.

Saskie Rosendahl is mesmerizing as a teenage girl, Lore, raised as a Hitler Youth, who discovers at the end of the war that everything she has known as "truth" is not only false, but despicable. In charge of taking her younger siblings on a difficult journey to her grandmother's house, she is confronted with the undeniable reality of the Holocaust horrors (perpetrated by her devoted Nazi parents). When a young man assists them, it tests the fierce anti-Semitism on which she has been raised. Vivid cinematography -- a painful story to watch, but a powerful one.

Suspenseful, thoughtful examination of post-WWII Germany through the eyes of children.

Challenging viewing, a rare depiction of the other innocent victims of the Nazis - their children.

A very complex film about Germany at the end of World War II. Lore is slowly figuring out the lies her war-criminal parents have taught her on an abandoned journey to Grandma's. Lore's journey becomes even more complicated, when she must learn to trust Thomas to survive; the one person she was taught to hate: a Jew.

Interesting setting--the German countryside right after WWII--but this was way too slow-moving and sometimes contrived as well.

Más allá de una fotografía bien lograda y una convincente actuación central, la película transcurre algo indiferente, sin convencer del todo ni en su dureza ni en sus relaciones. No aburre pero deja poco en la retina.
