Poor Harry ends up following the wrong guy, a bigamist (Ted Levine) living a double life with two different families (Annette O'Toole and Kate Capshaw play the wives). As Harry winds up embroiled in confusion he can't comprehend, he becomes aware that he too is being followed--by a pretty female detective named Stella (Elizabeth Perkins) who is recovering from heartbreak of her own. Alan Rudolph wrote and directed LOVE AT LARGE, and it bears his signature fondness for quirky characters and witty dialogue. The interesting cast includes rocker Neil Young as a wealthy n'er-do-well and Kevin J. O'Connor as a lusty ranchhand. Leonard Cohen sings the outstanding theme song, "Ain't No Cure for Love." An engagingly wry commentary on love, jealousy, and being true to one's self, the movie comes highly recommended for couples, both established and in progress, who are looking for something different. Reviews for Love at Large
As with a lot of Rudolph films, this one seems a little too pleased with its quirkiness.
Love at Large probes the comic, obsessive and manipulative sides of love.
